Hi Belle, can we replace nulls with another string say NA when comparing integer/float datatype fields in calculation, i don't want 0 as it emphasizes presence of data , i tried work around where i converted my measure to string data type which enabled me to have NA but then i lost the number formatting feature(thousand separators) tried custom calculation for formatting but facing challenges for when the number is negative. Am i missing something?
hi, The video is very helpful. But I am Not able to change BLANK fields (having no values) to 0 (zero). I think these conditions works only for NULL values. Please guide.
If I'm trying to calculate the difference (let's say sales) from multiple years individually to a baseline year, and there are sales for an order id in the baseline year but not necessarily in ALL of the other years, I'm finding I can't get IFNULL, ISNULL and ZN to work for me when the data doesn't exist. Table calcs work for year over year but trying to compare each of them to a baseline year NOT through a table calc is struggle... any advice?
By default when you have a continuous date axis, you should be able to plot the line graph. I may be misunderstanding your question though? If it's helpful, I have a video on dates - the continuous dates might be what you're needing? ruclips.net/video/ufhNJmYrVhs/видео.html
Hello Premm, Do you mean if you were creating a data profile based on your data source? Depending on what you need to do, you could consider looking at Tableau Prep if you want a quick snapshot or explore your data? Here is a possible reference: help.tableau.com/current/prep/en-gb/prep_explore.htm#see-the-distribution-of-values-or-unique-values Donabel
Thank you Faisal, for sure! My next video I am planning uses all table calcs in calculated fields. In the meantime though please feel free to check out my table calculation video ruclips.net/video/3_DeQdE25Bc/видео.html ... the small multiples video also uses table calculations ruclips.net/video/kWZoa3UfbVs/видео.html as well as the certification prep series ruclips.net/video/Sf1aJoKpXfE/видео.html
@@sqlbelle thank you.. And I watched almost all the tableau vedios of yours, its better for understanding and giving so much tips. And could you please make a detailed vedio on dashboard components
Hello Harish - no, this still needs to be evaluated because zero and NULL mean different things. However, if you will be doing math operations - you need to handle exceptions because your results will be way off if you leave the NULLs as they are and *still* use them in the expressions
Thanks for this short but very useful video!!!
The ZN function is something that will be very useful in any data analysis.
Thank you Deepak!
Your way of explaining everything is awesome. I really like they way you teach everything
Thank you so much for your kind comment, Vicky!
Awesome content. Could you do a session of scaffolding method to deal with null dates?

Great descriptive video. Thanks a lot for doing this
Thank you for sharing, the ZN Function is the one I'm looking for
Sounds great! Glad you were able to find it in the video!

Please do a video on how to handle data source changes such as field name changes. You are awesome.

Hi Donabel, how can you create a continuous line graph (dates in columns, and measure in rows) if some days have a NULL value? Thanks

Is applying a 0 value to every Null value in a numerical column recommended ?
