In very loving memory of Mr. Robert M. Enos (1947 - 2008 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).
I've loved this band for over 30 years, their personnel changes, but the sound still kicks ass! Chris Vachon is a fantastic picker, very underrated. I know they're based in New England, but I wished they'd come around the midwest again. They haven't been here for years
Grew up seeing this band almost twice a month between Boston and Providence! God, what a blessing to have such a wonderful musical upbringing!
Excellent guitarist, swings very very nicely. Horn men are excellent too.
Anybody here remember, “Swallow”?
They did two albums and they were fantastic.
From the founding, Duke Robillard set a very high bar for Roomful's 'guitarmanship,' and Chris Vachon really does a fantastic job, with beautiful tone and phrasing and, most of all, he is totally swinging it.
I've known the guys in Roomful since about 1976, and was privileged to play trombone and bass trombone with the band in '98 and '99, including in this video. I don't know who these folks are who are posting here, but if you don't have something nice to say, try keeping it to yourselves. I've been in this business for 40 + years, and these are the most stand-up guys I've ever worked with-INCLUDING Rossi, and especially Chris Vachon. Consummate professionals in every respect.
Agreed.
I was in Roomful in the 80's (I'd be more specific, but this IS the internet), with Ronnie Earl, Porky, Copley, Piccolo etc. This was pre-rehab Ronnie Earl days, but even so he was a really nice guy. Most were (especially Rich Lataille, an amazing blues scholar as well), with two notable exceptions: Piccolo was a total prick, and the guy behind ousting Duke, along with Rossi. Everybody HATED Rossi.
I played with Vachon many times, and he was always cool. He just LOOKS like an asshole.
Ah, this is crazy. I'd always wondered what happened with Duke leaving.
Sad to have drama, it stifils everything.
Thanks @carvinrednine for filling in some details. Today I watched an interview of Duke, and he mentioned his departure was October of '79. And I couldn't imagine why.
