The most excellent video on miniature pottery on RUclips. I have watched so many and you are by far the BEST ! Keep up the great content. I will watch all of your videos. From U.S.A
This was so helpful! I've had a hard time with my mini wheel but I think I was putting to much pressure on and not getting all the way centered. It was super helpful to see you go in real-time speed instead of sped up. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this!
Throwing in miniature presents some unique challenges. I have found that small wooden beads glued to bamboo skewers make great mini throwing sticks and will allow you to support the inside wall of the pot while you pull up the outside. I also find that a small synthetic brush (golden takylon bristles have nice springiness) is great for smoothing the outside and the rim of your thrown form.
@@caldervanandel throwing that small requires a new way of thinking and the creation of tools that mimic the things we do intuitively with body mechanics.
I recently purchased a mini pottery wheel also and I love throwing tiny pots on it. I used to use my big portable wheel but I found I really disliked cleaning a big wheel mess for tiny pottery. Perfect solution for my tiny pottery needs. Loved your video.
I bought that same mini wheel and gave up after I couldn't get my clay to stick or center. Your video is going to get me to dust it off this weekend. Thank you!
Thank you! I'll put it on my idea list! But unfortunately I'm in the middle of my exam year of highschool, so I don't have a lot of time to make new videos at the moment😅
@@caldervanandel Not even expected to get a reply omg thanks. Nah, its okay stick with your priorities and good luck for your exam. Highschool? Wow still so young but so talented 🥺 I'll wait patiently 💪😊
Hi thanks for making a video on the miniature wheel. I'm indecisive whether to buy one or not on Amazon just unsure what brand to buy a kiln specifically for making miniatures only and what degrees should it be fired and for how long? Hope you can help me out!! Thanks!
I fire at 1020 degrees celsius in a normal kiln for normal sized ceramics. I you are only going to make miniatures you could look at a test kiln, these are small kilns which people use to test glazes and not have to fire a whole normal sized kiln.😊
I just bought a mini pottery wheel, and a kiln. I have done a bit of ceramics, but do you need to change anything about the firing time for the little vases? Or just a normal cycle determined by glaze and clay type. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
I bought my tabletop kiln, wheel and glazes based on your suggestions. Is there any way you can please do a video on the tabletop kiln firing for 06 including the glaze firing or pretty, pretty please share it?
Mine is not that complicated. For bisque I fire to 600 degrees Celsius in 5 hours, and then as fast as possible to 1020 degrees Celsius. I do the same thing with the glaze fire, but as fast as my kiln goes to 1220 degrees Celsius.
@@caldervanandel thanks for your reply, I tried the procelain, and you're right it was difficult. What type of clay do you recommend? Also some suggestions for glazes and firing?
Hi! This is so cool - thanks for the video and demo! Your art is beautiful! I’m wondering if I don’t get a kiln…what kind of clay I can use =- I’ve seen people with quick dry clay and using acrylic paints - obviously not as nice as real fired ones but what are the alternatives? Thanks!
Hello, thank you so much for this detailed tutorial! I have some struggles making bowl (but everything actually), every time i stop my tiny potter's wheel, the top of my bowl (or vase or anything) is always damaged... I don't know why and it makes me so sad because when its turning, it looks nice, but then I stop and it's just awful... I don't know what to do :( Do you have any advice or do you know why? I am using terracota clay from the mark 'Soft-Ton', I do humified my fingers too, but looks less awful when I use less water... And I think my potter's wheel is same as you :)
Hi! It's really hard to keep such a small piece of clay centered, I think that's the reason why the rim gets crooked really easy. The best thing you can do is hold a sponge very carefully on the rim, while spinning the wheel. If this doesn't work you could let the clay dry and then sand the rim afterward, to make it straight and smooth. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions😊
@@caldervanandel ah I see! 😊 sorry I am a true beginner, I am doing this to take photos for a future painting ☺️ Thank you for your advice (and quick answer), I never thought about polishing it after, might be how it end! Haha Thanks again! I will look very closely how you’re working so I can improve myself :)

what do you need for baking and how to bake it?
have you ever tried to trim the foot? I might give it a shot after ordering a mini griffin. Supposedly they can hold/center very small items.
No, I've never tried trimming them, I would love to hear how it goes!😊

hii.what kind of clay are you using?

Could you tell me the name of the pottery wheel? The link that you have used is now expired. Thanks.
how did you fire these?
i have a cone 10 porcelain clay. Will it work on a mini wheel?
Sorry for my late response, I think it will be harder to do, but not impossible😅
@@caldervanandel thanks for your reply, I tried the procelain, and you're right it was difficult. What type of clay do you recommend? Also some suggestions for glazes and firing?
I use standard white stoneware clay. And you can use any glazes you use on normal sized pottery😊
Hello i was wondering which types of clay can you use on this? Would air dry clay work?
I'm not sure, but I think it will work. But you can't glaze it, but you can of course paint it.

may i know how many times and degree do you fire the mini vase? bisque adn glaze fire? or just glazed fire??
I fire it ones, at 1020 degrees Celsius.
@@caldervanandel slow firing or fast?
Slow, I put them together with the bisque fire of my normal, bigger ceramics.

I returned my mini wheel. It drove me batty when it slowed way down with any kind of pressure. Now I do any minis on my regular wheel, much easier.
Is there a way to fire it at home, with an oven?
Ceramics need to be fired in a kiln, specially made for it. You could try out air dry clay😊
Thanks
From where i can buy this machine and how much the price of this mini pottery machine

Can you please name the wheel name since the link to .de doesn't work.
