This is my 13-1/2 week old Dumbo (Elephant Ear) Mosaic Guppies. These are the second generation babies from the original guppy pair that I purchased from the Pet Store. Guppies are red, blue, and has irredensense on thier backs.
They are being raised in outdoor 50 gallon (189 litre) tropical tubs. There is a water lily called the Tina in the tub.

Did you feeding them with live foods or just commercial feeds?
Hello. I used to only feed dry commercial food. The guppies were fine. But, I started feeding guppies live brine shrimp. They love it. The tiny baby brine are really good for the guppy fry. Take care and be safe. Cheers. 😀

Hello. My guppies live between 2-3 years.
80 Farenheit should be good. I don't control my water temperature since It’s warm all year in Hawaii. In general, my water temperature varies between 62 to 85 Farenheit (17 - 29 Celcius) all year. It could go a little higher or lower.

Yes. You need at permit from Department of Agriculture. Its $20, I think. Look online. Good luck.

Hello. Today was one of the colder mornings. I measured the temperature of the water and it was 16.8 celcius or 62 fahrenheit. The water won't ever get much colder than that here.
Hello. In the past, I fed them Tetra Color Tropical Flakes with Natural Color Enhancer. I've recently changed to Tetra Color Plus Tropical Flakes with Natural Carotenes for Intense Color. I feed the fry and adults this same flakes. It makes it easy. Take care.

do the guppies need an aerator or a filter to produce air if not where does the oxygen in the water come from
Hello. No aerator is needed. The plants provide oxygen. Also, the large water surface area provides oxygen. Cheers.

Why do you have to seperate male and female?
Hello Daniel. I seperate them so they don't breed. I select the nice guppies to breed. Also, I feel they grow better separated. Cheers.

So beautiful I decided to buy some on ebay. The male I received looks very similar to yours but the female has black , red and orange color in her tail. Yours looks black with blue colors. I like your females better.

I like the fact that some of your males are greener and some more purplish. I think the variety is intriguing. You Tina water lily looks healthy. I need to repot mine- mine are neglected at the moment. No kidding, those males jumps were high.
Yes, an assortment of colors. The Tina was dying slowly. Six weeks ago, I followed your lily fertilizing video. And, it worked. As seen in this video, the lily is doing well. I plan to post a video on the revitalization of this lily.

Hello. I buy a bag of "Top Soil" from the store. I use 16-16-16 granular fertilizer. Check out "Backyard Kaimuki" videos on lilies. Take care.

How do you differentiate between different species of females guppies from each other since, they show very little coloration.
Hello Mac. The females have suttle differences (color, fins, tail shape, tail patterns). But, some strains look the same. Those will be very hard to tell. Take care.

Hello Mac. The males and females may look similar. Or, the tank will be labeled with the females strain. If not, ask the store workers. They normally will know. If they don't know, then you'll have to take a chance. Good luck.
