I haven’t had copied VHS tapes since the early 90’s. I got all my video nasties through the underground tape trading scene. Censorship and the UK government were crazy at that time. People actually got sent to prison for owning horror films! Funny now to think most of those films are on Blu Ray special Editions.

if you want to check out a cool anime check out berserk from the 90's its brutal, dark and very fucked up. has a lot of horror vibes. very cool i remember having tons of movies and tv shows taped to vhs. very cool to see.
Fuck i actually have seen that show, its bloody, i remember the snake dude in ep1
Awesome stuff. I would go to the video store with my dad back in the day and he would clue me in to the classics i.e. Phantasm, Dreamscape, Mad Max, The Fly. As far as tape dubs go, the only one I was familar with that my dad made was one I thought was a blank and recorded a bunch of Rugrats, Angry Beavers, and other nicktoons only to find at the tale of it a porno. My cousin got a hold of that and have no idea where it is now.
A great Ralph Bakshi is Wizards; one I rented young thinking it was just a kids cartoon...Here's a recommend if you haven't seen it and another cartoon I rented way too young, Fantastic Planet. It put a new spin on my 9 year old mind on my existence and the entitlement of the human species. Anime classic exploitation gold is Mad Bull 34. You can find it on youtube.
I love fantastic planet, when i was a kid it made me cry. too weird back then, love it now!
@@VideoHomicide Badass soundtrack on that sucker too. If you like sleazy old school ova anime stuff and haven't seen it definitely check out Mad Bull 34. It's kinda got this Death Wish vibe and has that sweet hand drawn aesthetic.
As far as anime goes You gotta check out cyber city Odeo 808. Bad ass anime, insane dub.
