40 mins of fly?? If I achieve 40 seconds with a plane that I made I would be super happy. Efficiency to the max! These guys really know how to not waste energy.
They are in a room the size of soccer pitch and the commentator says "I think there's a slight draught". This hobby is both verging on lunacy and utterly compelling. Thanks for posting!
Yes, indeed... and Josh tells me he can crank up the rubber motor even more. And with a little tweak, he’ll probably have that flying 50+ minutes. So... the story does not end here!
great video! my first F1D- like (although I now laugh about it looking back) plane I built from wood that was left over from a balsa glider kit I built
this is what youtube is for, not for tv shows that cant be filmed due to covids man youtube is bending over for that saccharine content and the quirky stuff get buried
Thanks, Jeff. Correct! It’s called OS film. In this video I interviewed Josh last year and he explained a few things to us that might interest you regarding how these airplanes are made. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/KVbtIdmYKUg/видео.html
I am from Italy. I don't understand how these wonderful airplanes models are governed . Are they let free ? Which are the goals of the balloons ? Thanks
The goal is to achieve the longest flight duration. They are very light. When launched, they fly in their own. But when they may collide with an object, the owner may use a helium balloon to change its course to a safe location. When balloon is engaged with the airplane, the stopwatch is paused and resumed after it’s disengaged again. These planes are amazing. should make the wings double layered membranes and covertly pump some helium into them until the whole thing is weightless and then let fly/float forever lol
Wonderful job filming that. You captured the true essence of a machine I cannot fully wrap my own mind around even after building it.
Thanks, Josh! Filming this was the easy part for you have tamed these lions and uncaged these friendly beasts for all to see! Well done! 👍😀
That was incredible...
I would actually love to watch y'all fly one day.
I think it would be a holy grail experience.
Josh is totally dedicated, one of the best.
True-that! 👍😀
This was a real joy to watch. Enjoyed the entire video! I really wish you guys were still actively uploading.
Yeah, we need to get another video up! Definitely! Thanks for watching, guys! 😊

It is impressive, indeed! 👍😊
Fantastic video and great to see you and Josh in the same room so we know there really is two different people out there 😍
Yup, I’m the mild “man-nerd” Clark Kent reporting on Josh’s Superman-flying feats! 👍😜
Best two comments in a long time. Well done sirs!
ありがとうございます!
Awasum creation.real power less flying joy .. love you from India 🇮🇳
Fantastic art! Just discovered this! I absolutely LOVE IT!!!
Yeah, it’s incredible... especially when it’s flying! Glad you discovered this! 😊
How fun is that! Gotta go see one of these events.

Wonderful to finally see the Hourglass III at full torque! Too bad about the “landing”, but I’ve no doubt Josh will get that fixed up in no time!

I fixed it before packing it away. It's in the trailer ready for its next outing. :)
Just as I thought you would! :) Can’t wait to see its next flight!
Nope! This is just the beginning! I think even an hour is not far-fetched, perhaps even the world record is within in capability of the Hourglass III.
Awesome work!!
Thanks, Donny!
Josh, this is awesome! The wing looks very strong.
Thanks, Bill, for stopping by! Did you see the “invisible” wires Josh had on this thing to support the wings. Crazy stuff!
@@NighthawkGliders , yes those wires are truly invisible - 0.001" tungsten. I can't see them, so use Kevlar tow instead.
Need a big bath tub to make such large sheets of microfilm! Do you use nitrate, colloidal, and castor oil?

Thanks! It was a fun video to make! The skill set to make something like Josh’s airplane is incredible!
Beautiful flight!
Yeah! 👍😀
My neck hurts just watching this
The Hourglass III is a rubber powered soap bubble!
Yup! It’s crazy light and floats like one!
I always give mine a DLG launch...😁
I could totally get into these! Where can I get a kit?
Awesome, looks like Predator up there.

Great video game ❤️✊

Outstanding video. For us newbies I take it that is not clear wrap.

They look like those squigglies in your eyes except cool little planes.
They are certainly fascinating to watch! 👍😀
