I know this comment is old but maybe your advice will help me. Considering getting a catch can for my new 24 2.0 maverick. I’m definitely getting one for the dirty side. Is the clean side “absolutely necessary” like so many say about the dirty side?
Thank you for pointing out you can hand tighten an oil filter. I always hand tighten and have NEVER had a lose filter in 45 years of driving. An over tightened filter has caused me headaches when I've had someone else change my oil.
A tip for the filter removal, break the seal with a wrench, then use a red solo cup to cover the filter, unscrew the filter and the cup will catch the excess oil so it won't make a mess. That way you don't have to remove the other skid plate. The main skid plate needs an access door for the plug and filter! Leave the plug out until after removing the filter.
Have you ever thought about adding a fumoto drain plug valve? It looks like you could access it through the black plastic access cover on the large skid plate so you would only have to take off the small skid plate completely
I usually go every 5000 but I was super busy and wasn't able to get to it. I think 5000 is good for a full synthetic oil but I'd only go 3000 with conventional.
Same process I go through with my truck but in terms of oil pressure did you just mean make sure no warning lights? I didn't know of any visible oil pressure monitor etc. Thanks and good video.
its the clean side. not going to do much. need to install one on the dirty side, on the front of the block

Do you have a video on your catch can install?
Yes I do!
@@deserttrek in your feed? Also are you doing a second can?
If you go to my channel it should be there. As of right now I only have the one can.
6000 miles seems high for a first change

Yes, just make sure the oil light goes off when you start it up👍
Does the Maverick have any fittings which need to be greased?
!
Do you fill your filter before installing it?
Yes, you should always try to prime your filter but it isn't always possible depending on the orientation of your vehicles filter.
What the brand of oil can? Also, Which filter brand did you install?
For the oil filter, I used a K&N oil filter (I don't think the brand matters too much). The oil was a mobile one full synthetic 5W-30.
@@deserttrekwhat brand Catch Can are you using?
Mishimoto and I made a video if you are interested👍. I have seen one from Boomba Racing that is made specifically for the Maverick, too
@@deserttrekthanks! I'll check the video and do some research on those two cans. I desperately need one.
How is the K%N dooing?
I'm still loving it👍
You need a catch can on the dirty side too. You would have caught way more
