- I couldn’t wait until the New year for the next shop tour video! About six months ago I added a 5’ x 10’ automatic tool changer CNC to my shop! Adding this capability to my shop has allowed me to cut custom cabinetry extremely fast and efficiently, flatten slabs and tabletops, and make custom signs and holiday decorations!
In this video I will walk you through how easy it is to run a program/file on a phantom CNC. Each step is showed to give reference for anyone just starting with a phantom CNC.

Can u not set up G54 in your machine so that it would be saved? Therefore every-time u run the G code it would automatically find the G54 location and go to that location.
You can program even more locations as-well that way you don’t have to set up X and Y every time
I only set my x and y one time. Each time I turn the machine on.
I want to like these, but there's a few things that just kill it. Namely, the stand-a-lone controller and the USB drive. Why? Mach3, WINCNC and UCCNC are all proven systems with ease of use. Making changes on the fly in VCarve and saving the file to the desktop and then uploading directly to UCCNC is used SO often there's no way I would want this setup. Also, why are there only 8-tools on the ATC rack?
I think Phantom should give the user the option for both systems. Seems to be a beast of a machine for a heck of a good price otherwise.

me 2. half dozen more modern controllers out there. they claim its made in NC, they are down the road from me. I will have to see for myself.

Excellent video about some important basics I needed to know. I'm planning on purchasing a t model too.
Building out a 15x30 CNC space adjacent to my shop. 2 questions. 1. Is 15x30 comfortably large enough for the 5x10 model, and 2. How high a ceiling is needed for vacuum tubing. In 9' enough?
Thanks man! 15’ x 30’ would fit but the 9 ft ceiling might not work without some modifications to the dust boom. If you don’t use the dust boom then you’ll be fine.
If you are anything like me in twenty five years you will look back and say this was the best investment of my life.

Hey great video, now that you’ve had a few months to use the machine for cabinet work, are you happy with its production capabilities? I’m looking to buy one too, but is it fast enough to cut lots of cabinets? We mainly use particle board with melamine instead of plywood. Would love your feedback.
Yea man, I’ve been running mine at 400 ipm cutting out a sheet between 3 minutes and 10 minutes depending on how many small parts are on one sheet. I can definitely go faster but just haven’t tried to yet. I just finished cutting out an entire kitchen on it. Hoping to have the video out on that process soon.

Did you remove the hold down rollers? Or does this machine not have one?
I removed mine because I have the older version CNC that doesn’t have the automatic rollers like the new ones have. The olds one can’t use the rollers with the automatic tool changer.

I paid $36,500 versus $75,000 for the same setup from others
what kind of post do you need for this ?
The post processor depends on which software you want to design in. I currently run Vcarve pro and mozaik

When I bought mine it was $36,500. Since my version, they made many upgrades to the new style offered. So it may be a little more now.
Phantom just quoted me $48,000. Quite shocked for that price as I could buy a shopsabre 4x8 fully loaded.
@@everettmantis3951 that’s what the shopSabre would start at. When I got quotes from them my same machine was $80k I have a 5x10 fully loaded.
@@NolanBuilt I got a quote from shopsabre for a 408 PRO for “around 50,000 give or take” (salesman’s words) and again it was a rough quote.
It included-
Single phase 5hp spindle
ATC 8 position
Phenolic table with 8 grids
F4 vacuum
Pop up pins
Is the controller and software pretty user friendly on the phantom?
@@everettmantis3951 yes the controls on the phantom are very easy to use. The only difference I see in the shop Sabre you got quoted for is a 5hp spindle versus the 16hp spindle that phantom offers.
