MY GOD!! Love your unboxing, setup and demo of the Ally! (I felt like I was there with ya the whole time with your camera shots) The design, speakers, display.... I haven't been this excited for a gaming PC since, since.... the Steam Deck! 😁
@@consumertechwarehouse Awesome my dude! Pls show more tips on how to use the software and how to tweak settings for demanding games. Tomorrow is like Christmas morning for a lot of people 🤩
Can you please upload a video showing how the ROG Ally is supposed to go into the official case? It seems like there's no way to put the device in the case without velcro touching the screen. I'm confused by the design of the case.
Damn sorry to hear guys. Hopefully you get one soon. They may have some in stock day 1. Keep checking the Best Buy website. You may even have to check around midnight. Also, Best Buy’s eBay account are selling some at retail.
from years of experience every pre order at bestbuy is normally pretty scattered. I normally wait until release and order immediately unless its going to be a store item its just a cleaner experience
How do you pair that exact same controller I have and doesn't get detected in pairing mode??? I go to add device then I hold the xbox button till it flashes and nothing.... doesn't get detected?
Does your screen have any kind of backlight bleed or IPS glow? Mine has a small amount on the top on two spots. Can only be seen on all black loading screens in a darker room.
@@consumertechwarehouse I tried a second one and it had the very small amount at the top like my unit has. There is two small areas at the top a inch or two away from each other. It’s very minimal and can only be seen in a darker soon on power up or black screens. If you could look closely on power up in a darker room to double check you have non that would be amazing. I might try my luck on one more then call it quits.
I was going to do it in my next video. But here goes. On the top of the controller, press and hold the button to the right, then go to system, then PC, then down to Bluetooth. Now on the ally, swipe up from the bottom right then press and hold on Bluetooth to bring up the settings. From there you can add a Bluetooth device, one of the selections should say controller. Not very intuitive lol.
Great video, loved that you went though the windows touch screen features. Can I check, have you tried using gyro aim on the ROG Ally? One big thing that is keeping me from the Ally.
I'm really curious, is the Ally able to suspend/resume games like the Switch or Steam Deck? I'm trying to find confirmation or even a demo of this feature.
Depends on the game. Usually online games lose connection when turning the screen off and you need to reconnect from the beginning. The Allys "suspend" is the equivalent of closing the lid on a Windows 11 laptop. So when you open the lid or open your Ally you need to enter your password/fingerprint and wait for it to load up. So try closing the lid on some of your games on PC and the result should be the same on the Ally :)
Yeah some games you can just put windows to sleep and some it won’t work. The game will freeze or bug out when waking from sleep. The ally isn’t really a steam deck. It’s a portable windows device and I think that’s the main difference
What headphones are you using? That 3.5 plug in the opening clip looked like a Focal. Curious how the ESS DAC pushes some of the more demanding headphones .
Dude that’s awesome. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who cares about this stuff. Ok so it’s a bit complicated. The amp on the ally is much louder. It’s able to drive it better. But the dac on the controller sounds noticeably cleaner with better sparkle in the top end. But it doesn’t get as loud and seems it wants a bit more power. Overall I prefer the controller. One thing I didn’t notice until using it was that the ally only has one usb port. So you’ll be using battery to power the controller and dac further reducing battery life and you can’t keep the ally charged. I really wish there were 2 usb ports.
@@consumertechwarehouse Yeh 1 port really is a let down. I have 2 usb-c docks 1 for Tv 1 for computer in anticipation. But even then that’s not a “on the couch” solution. Sadly I might just have to use some earbuds on the couch because I’ll always be plugged in running in turbo mode. I could always plug in my usb-c DAC but at some point convenience over clarity takes precedent.
Ohhh the screen is really good. Great contrast and seems really fast responsive wise. Wish the colors were a bit more vibrant. Looks like it’s just an sRGB panel. But overall it’s really good
Mine took forever too. Just leave it on and walk away. Some local Best Buy’s have inventory. Worse case you can switch it out. But if you got a logo, just keep it on for a bit.
…ohh that’s probably not good then. See if your local Best Buy has any inventory. You might be able to exchange it. That sucks man. I would have been crushed. I was really excited to get mine too
Good. At original settings with FSR on balanced I was getting like 45 fps. It couldn’t really handle ultimate settings so much though. But with FSR, it looks smooth
@@consumertechwarehouse suddenly it started working for me, but was switching it on and of about 20 times. Did all updates and easy going. Weird tho ^^
updating myself, I'll drive to the shop today and get a new one. Mine won't start anymore at all. Have been booting for 10h now (switching on and off about 50 times I guess)
That controller looks nice but I don’t know if I can justify the cost. Not that I can’t afford it but I already have a few other controllers by 8bitdo, a switch pro controller, and a couple others.
@@consumertechwarehouse I like them a lot. I actually just bought the 8bitdo ultimate that’s wired for 20 bucks. I figure it will be good when I dock the ROG Ally and play at my desk on a monitor.
Kinda wish I would’ve gotten it shipped instead of the store pickup seems like a lot of people have already gotten theirs. But I’m very excited for it and i got in my 100 watt charger and 1tb sd card today. I will probably do a 2tb nvme upgrade in the future but 1.5tb (sd&nvme) is fine for now. Also ordered a case and some right angle usb type c cables.
That setup process is so annoying. Having to basically set it up like a computer is just too much. I don't like that it's "more than a gaming device" because that seems to add to the overall bloat. All of that other "Windows" stuff is just unnecessary. People are buying the device to game and it should be streamlined for that.

Wow thanks!!! That’s exactly why I make these videos. I’m definitely loving this more than the steam deck.

I’m working on a tips and tricks video and want to get it up before people get it in their hands tomorrow

Enjoy your Ally brother can't wait to get mine on Tuesday
Thanks. It’s been great so far. Hope you get yours early
Still waiting for the time stamps
They've been delayed.
Done. Uploaded at 2 am and forgot
They canceled my pre order but they sitting on product so if I can’t go in Best Buy a purchase then I’m buying a stem deck
I think they canceled mines too. I got my money back into my account.

No backlight bleed at all on mine. One of the first things I looked out for
@@consumertechwarehouse thanks. I’m contemplating doing a exchange.
Yeah definitely. You shouldn’t have to deal with backlight bleed. Sometimes it goes away on its own. It did with my scar 8

Can it run after effects??
Can you show if you can use the raikiri pro on the ally wireless? Cant seem to figure it out.
Same need a tutorial for this controller

What’s your opinion on the analog sticks
Adequate. But too much dead zone and I already have it set to 0.
@@consumertechwarehouse I heard they analogs feel quite loose also and lack tension

It seems like it has the hardware, but it can’t be enabled yet. If you know of a way, let me know and I’d love to test it

Its a beautiful machine but my battery life is absolutely horrible unless i have my settings way down. It does charge fast though.
Yeah I was playing resident evil 4 remake last night and I think it barely lasted an hour
are the graphics the same as a laptop? Also do you have to download like cpu chipsets and what not
No not even close unfortunately. In horizon I was getting like 40 fps, with an RTX 3060 from last year you’re getting like 90 plus

Great video. Can you connect PS5 controller or Xbox controller to ROG Ally and play with any of them?
Yeah since it’s a regular windows device, both controllers are supported natively.
You didn’t put time stamps
Done now.
Thanks brother
Really not liking the official case. Looks too flimsy.
Yeah some ROG laptops include a case of this level of quality for free. I do think $40 is a bit too much for the case
I dont understand why people are using an external controller... Doesn't that defeat the purpose??? 🙄😑
The ROG ALLY controller isn't the greatest and the most responsive. The raikiri pro is much better.
The CPU in the ally is crazy powerful, beats out a 11900k
Damn. I didn’t get a chance to run benchmarks. I’m going to run timespy, cinebench and other games that I typically test this week
Yeah but how loud does the fan get and what is the battery life. Sometimes better to be slower!

Definitely. But on the flip side because it's a windows device, the sky is the limit in terms of compatibility
