    Battle Stage in the bag, we movin! Literally got this done yesterday. Battle Stage 2 is a 2hr recording so fingers crossed for it to be edited and drop next Monday. Since I've already seen all these races I spend most of the time just talking about my thoughts of each races, so sorry in advance for pausing 🫡

      I really don't mind your pauses and in between discussion and thoughts. On the contrary I really enjoy it as it helps me see the series through a different perspective and also reminds me of the days when I also watched Initial D for the first time. When you pause and start discussing your thoughts and opinions other than it being enjoyable it also goes to show that you're really understanding and enjoying the series and not just watching for the sake of it like many other reaction channels have done as their reaction literally feels dead, unnatural and forced.

    Fun fact: In the manga, after Ryosuke passed Takumi, he never used the other gutter run to catch up. He was literally just that much faster. When Ryosuke was following Takumi he was using Takumi's lines and technique to keep up with him. Afterwards he lost that advantage plus his front tires being worn, allowing Takumi to catch up and eventually pass him. The second gutter run was introduced against Seiji in the manga

    • @KitamiK11

      that would make sense as to why the seiji moment in the anime is staged in such a way.

    • @BayAreaRushHour
      @BayAreaRushHour 6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I also want to add that the ryosuke race happened immediately after Shingo, and that the Usui race was after ryosuke. I know the anime saved him as a final boss, but it makes more sense the manga way. Usui was a greater challenge as it was his first race away from akina. Mako got into racing because of ryosuke, and logically would have wanted that to be her final retirement race with him. She requested the 86 because he beat ryosuke.

    39:43 - Keisuke vs Seiji race is unique to Battle Stage 1
    Even the manga doesn't have that race. Only mentions the result of the race.
    Basic context is that before Sudo Kyoichi challenged Ryosuke Akagi downhill
    Seiji raced against Keisuke on Akagi uphill and Keisuke won setting the new uphill record.
    And since the manga has no details about the Keisuke vs Seiji race, this race in Battle stage 1 is 100% anime production team's take on the race.

  • @tobyash118
    @tobyash118 9 месяцев назад +13

    Yo thx for the shout Jay
    Also yes that Keisuke vs Seiji race is new to battle stage, in the manga it was mentioned that it happened but they didnt actually show it. Its funny tho because you can see there using Keisukes first stage character design while Seijis is ofc his second stage.

    The second gutter run prioritizes exit speed. In the manga, Takumi is forced to use it against Seiji because the Evo IV has a greater exit speed than the 86. Takumi couldn't find another way to pass Seiji without it

    19:28 @JayKReacts Yeah, at a high level, drifting most of these places IRL would take like literally like 5 mins. However, most tyres would last around 30 - 40 mins of driving before you start risking getting a tyre burst.

  • @anothernrg8274
    @anothernrg8274 9 месяцев назад +3

    22:23 Because the GTR is a bad car for mountain roads. The best option is a Skyline GTT which is FR. The ATESA system on the GTR's AWD mechanism (which distributes power) sometimes is lost and creates you in result an even worse tire wear.
    Kozo Hoshino experienced that too with the R34. That is why his strat was trying to end Keisuke in the first run and half.
    Kawaii's Skyline (The blue one) is a 25GTT an FR sport Skyline, the best for touge, the problem, Kawaii is not at Project D's level.
    Plus all Skylines and GTRs weight a lot around 1200kg and 1500kg respectively.
    The idea of using the "R" is showing how good the drivers are battling tire wear.
    The Lancer Evo's do not have this drawback because those weight less than a GTR qnd have no ATESA system causing excesive tire wear. Also the Evo's are designed for bad roads and mountain passes since those as well as Bunta's Subaru Impreza are rally cars, designed to win on dirt and tarmac.

    • @lukygame
      @lukygame 9 месяцев назад +2

      The GTRs are bad cars for mountain roads, but not because they are 4wd, just because they are very heavy in general.
      I doubt the GTT would be much better on a mountain than a GTR
      The ATTESA ETS is only helpful. It's not a traditional 4WD system like an EVO or a WRX.
      It distributes power to the front wheels based on the situation meaning if you don't need them, they aren't gonna get any power.
      Simply put, around sweeping turns, the GTR is RWD and around tight turns, it sends a bit of power, depending on the conditions, to the front to help pull the front out of a corner.
      On an R32 the front end is also heavier than the back which contributes to understeer.
      A heavy twin turbo i6 is just difficult to move about.
      Compare that to an EVO which has a transversely mounted i4 leaving next to no weight in front of the front axle.
      The reason I think the GTT wouldn't do better is because it's less stiff, narrower, still quite heavy and can't use ATTESA ETS.
      The r34 is just a really heavy car, which is why Hoshino's tyres degraded quickly and the car was skidding super wide.

    • @anothernrg8274
      @anothernrg8274 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@lukygame Yep, exactly my point. Heavy for mountain = ☠️
      The reason I said GTs were better is not for weight but for traction. Of course they need weight reduction or the tires will be worn fast.
      And the ATTESA, you have a point. However, I am pointing at the 32's ATTESA, not 33's or 4's which was greatly improved.
      I'm not trying to fight. Since I see you also know a thing or two. So, in any case. Good answer man.

      Kozo's strategy wasn't to beat Keisuke in 1st run and a half. He knew that with his capability with the accelerator that if it was one uphill pass only that Keisuke wouldn't stand a chance. And he was right. Keisuke couldn't get to the 7 second strategy to heat Kozo. Ryosuke stated that Kozo gave himself a handicap and Keisuke himself admits on the 2nd run that the gtr has better traction than the fd. The cone overtake was simply just plan b bc Kozo was trying to end the match in round 1.

    if you enter the gutter at the entrance to the corner then it'll let you have fast entry speed and avoid understeering at those speeds, but it the side G forces will kick you out of the gutter at those speeds about halfway through the corner basically at the apex, but the 2nd gutter run lets Takumi drift into a corner normally and get into the gutter at the apex allowing him to stay in the gutter till the exit of the corner meaning he can start accelerating out of the corner while he's still in it, so the 1st is for fast entry speed and the 2nd is for faster exit speed and that's why using the 2nd gutter run vs Seiji in his white Evo 4 allowed the 86 to be faster on the straight even though he has less than half the horse power, he started accelerating much sooner than the Evo.

    Now that you have watched this, I need you to react to the 3 Legend Movies. However I'd save that for the end of the show cause that is wayy above even final stage in style and grpahic quality. And also it could be fun to come back later to remember how the show started (note:They shorten the story in Legend movies and no more Eurobeat, but other than that they still good)

      Not really 10 years but 6 years for the next season to arrive is still a pathetic experience. But the animators had no other choice but to wait as the author was taking his sweet time to publish the next chapter. Thankfully MF Ghost might not have to go through this same issue considering that the manga is nearing its ending so MF Ghost Season 5 may air as soon as 2029

Both of them think like racing drivers, Drivers that are able to use their opponents weaknesses are usually the best. That's why both God Arm and Ryosuke's races were the finals of their seasons...
