Before the end of May we had a DA in opposition to the ANC.
Now they are in a GNU with 12 positions of importance for South Africa.
The ANC are on the way out, albeit slowly.

The ANC really had no choice in this. This was the only way they could keep the (now lessor numbers) of snouts at the trough.

The ANC should not bow to capitalist pressure and work with the DA. The DA has its own friends before the election that vowed never to work with the ANC. The ANC must sit down with its youth wing, the EFF and its renegade soldiers, mk. There is no policy difference only an implementation time frame.

Is the betrayal of the multi-party by the DA not an issue?
Apparently DA voters can't seem to find wrong in them lying, abandoning their commitments and being hypocrites. They're starting to sound just like ANC voters.
The DA could bring the other members of the Multiparty coalition into the coalition with the ANC so that would give you 159 seats from ANC plus 87 seats for DA plus 17 seats for IFP plus 6 seats from FF+ plus 6 seats from ActionSA plus 3 seats from ACDP for a grand total of a coalition of 277 seats. Almost as much as the grand majority ANC had in 2004.

I agree that from an economic perspective the most logical coalition will be ANC/DA , however the DA runs the risk of being tainted by the sins of the ANC eg. corruption etc . going forward , as contained in the Zondo report findings , which CR has consitently avoided implementing. Going forward i think more of the ills of the ANC will be revealed by JZ or by disgruntled ex ANC big wigs walking across to MK /EFF , which currently is been speculated, should the ANC/DA coalition take place.To me the better solution would be a GNU .

The coalition is based on what the ANC wants and not what other parties want. In order for DA to be appealing to the ANC it would need to be humble in presence but still put pressure on ANC through big business and international influence which is currently what is happening behind closed doors and in future can lead to the demise of the ANC. On the other hand ANC is most ideally attracted to a coalition with its former party members through the MK Party, EFF, Patriotic Alliance and maybe by a stretch the IFP which will consolidate and grow its power in future.
The problem is one of personality...Zuma hates Ramaphosa.

DP + NP = DA existed during apartheid ..
Lazy observation. The DP was an anti-apartheid party during Apartheid. The NP became the NNP (New National P) and worked with the DP in coalition, later as the DA, until 5 August 2005, when all NNP parliamentarians joined the ANC. The NNP's prominent leaders took up positions in ANC national and provincial government and gradually disappeared from the scene.
Disinformation. The DP was in opposition to the NP Apartheid regime. The NP, what was left of it, joined the ANC in 2004. So, it's ACTUALLY the ANC + NP
