Hi subscribers, this is a reupload for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was originally meant to be 4K but RUclips didn't render it at 4K quality, so I'm hoping with an increased bitrate it will work this time. Secondly, there were a couple of (minor) mistakes with the original which have now been rectified. I want this channel to be as high quality as possible so if there are some things I have done wrong I will always try to mend them and not to make similar mistakes in future! The original is still on the channel but is just unlisted for the time being. I will eventually take it down altogether. Thanks for the understanding!
'...if there are some things I have done wrong I will always try to mend them and not to make similar mistakes in future!' That simple goal would save the world, but for now, it'll produce high-quality science entertainment. Thanks, Astrum!
Lol, you put out high-quality educational content, worry about making your videos perfect to the point where you edit a video to fix small mistakes, and you're thanking US? Nope. THANK YOU!!!
You make me proud to be a subscriber dude. My wife woke up so ill stfu atm.. lol dude.. you more than good.. i insist you relax and be cool on u too I appreciate your effort a lot man. Thanks a lot!
It's mind-blowing to think that the actual temperature could be 2000 degrees celsius but because of the lack of gas particles, it will feel like below 0 degrees celsius, it's fascinating...
Look up the Coors Lite video where they sent the full beer can into "space" on a balloon with a GoPro and thermometer. You can see the temperature variations that happen on the way up. Very cool.
I just found your videos and I subscribed. Needless to say, I've found a new channel to add to my regular favorites. :) So very nicely researched and presented.
@@NoCumBacksiFunny seriously?! Lmao Do you think Canada is in Mexico? I haven't looked at DOW or NYSE in a long time but I'd guess it's about $40 US dollars! I had already watched the video when you first uploaded it, and I have to admit that your channel has a pretty high quality video. Keep up the good work!
Beautifully produced documentary. Excellent research. I have been flying for over 10 years and have only for the first time witnessed Noctolucent clouds. Truly jaw dropping.
14:13 what about the ionosphere? that's nowhere on there? In my atlas it says that the ionosphere is above the stratosphere & it also lists a magnetosphere in there instead of exosphere.
the “ionosphere” seems to be another classification of altitudes, containing the thermosphere & parts of the meso- & exospheres. it’s defined as the bit where particles are ionized by solar radiation, whereas everything below it is called the “neutrosphere”. the “magnetosphere” arguably isn’t even part of the atmosphere at all, but part of earth’s magnetic field; it’s the zone where an astral body’s magnetic field affects charged particles. it extends to about 1/10 of the height of the exosphere, and apparently the ionosphere is just below it.
You, Sir, are a very good teacher / sharer of knowledge. Concise, clear, simple and very well articulated. Presented for easy absorption. Sincerity and humility are easily consumed. False pride and filler are not very palatable. Thank you.
Had no idea you could get clouds that Hi Up. Amazing. Also explained convection and the way it can cause storms and Hurricanes to spin in a way I understood for the first time in my life.
Very good video! I haven't seen that much detail about the atmosphere since I studied it in grad school. I like your pacing and presentation and the images you find to go with your narration are great. The only criticism I have is that the aurora are caused by charged particles from the sun spiraling down the earth's magnetic field lines rather than by radiation from the sun interacting with particles in the atmosphere. I look forward to more of your videos!
Whenever I feel depressed, I watch these space videos. Makes me realize how unimportant the humans compared to the vastness of space and how insignificant the problems I have.
I took a meteorology class in college, I’ve been in love with atmospheric phenomena ever since💕 Awesome video, thank you for putting such wonderful content online🙌🏼
Thanks for the interesting and as always very informative video! A bit of additional info, the phenomena at 11:30 is know as irisation; it is very common at higher elevations even through the day. i see this many times a year living at about 8500 feet elevation.
hank you for ths video, you have explained the Aptosphere so simply and easily, I really think I get it finally. I am an amateur Weather Enthusast too, so the names of the layers I know, but was unsure how high and what properties they had... now I can refer here to brush up!
Where does the Earth’s spinning atmosphere stop, and the vacuum of space begin? At the Karman Line? Between the Exosphere and Thermosphere? Not all scientists agree that the exosphere is really a part of the atmosphere. Some scientists consider the thermosphere the uppermost part of Earth's atmosphere, and think that the exosphere is really just part of space. However, other scientists do consider the exosphere part of our planet's atmosphere. How is the atmosphere, which is a gas, and the Earth which is a solid, and the water, which is a liquid, all moving at the same speed as one body? And if the atmosphere is a gas, how is it different from other gases like wind from hurricanes or simple directional breezes? Inertia is the term that describes why we don’t sense the movement. But using the train or plane analogy, we must take into account the physical barrier, steel, aluminum, glass, etc...that prevents the resistance force to be felt. Roll down the window of your car and those forces will be felt. That leads to my question: at what point in the upper atmosphere does this invisible protective barrier exist? The exosphere or thermosphere or the Kármán line
There is no resistance because Earth (and its atmosphere) are moving through a vacuum. There is no 'invisible protective barrier', gravity keeps our atmosphere stuck to earth (although we do lose some of it to space).
This is the first video I've watched on your channel, and I'm suitably impressed. I've learnt more in this short video than I did in my whole schooling.
Another great video with exception production values. Also, thanks for the shout-out. I had not seen the original, and can't wait to watch this with my children.
This was my favorite clip on the subject, so far, and I have looked at quite a few. Good work. However, I do believe the ionosphere and the turbopause are overlooked. The latter is a very interesting subject, that few people are aware of.
I was thinking of adding the ionosphere, but with the runtime of this video as long as it was already, I thought it deserves its own video in the future. Thanks for the feedback!
Superb video as usual. I never realised the layers were so distinct and related to temperature gradients. Also that the temperature dropped and then rose again! For myself as a middle aged viewer (54) who's mind never worked that fast anyway, I would like a little longer to view the stunning photos and diagrams alongside slower speech so I can take in one bit of information before you move on to the next.
I keep catching myself staring at this like a young child watching a magician for the first time. Laughing, smiling, holding my breath in anticipation. Space man, space... Ain't it somethin'?
Ya agree with @sc sc..from last comment The video quality and its contains are good... Really appreciate this video...as atmospheric science student this helps me lot...thanks buddy...

@alexolas1246 how's that magnetic protection work? Super heated metals are not magnetic. So that super heated core can not produce magnetism.

Very Nice video Alex . You may have mentioned the Karman Line that separates Atmosphere from space.
Incredible how that man jumped to Earth from the stratosphere . What an experience .

jstrick38us the cause is charged particles circulating in the magnetosphere but the light is from interactions with the particles in our thermosphere.
