This is a great 1924 performance by Godowsky who is often taken to task due to his emotional reticence. If the very beginning seems a little clunky, he gets carried away in the middle of the piece, right before the section with octaves in the right hand. The section becomes crunched together with all kinds of rhythms and chords. I find this performance very compelling. It stands up there with Hofmann's wonderful performance from about 1912. Also there's de Pachmann in 1916.
