Exploring Asteroid Bennu Through Technology

- It’s hard to imagine what the surface of a dark, distant asteroid might look like, but NASA’s “Tour of Asteroid Bennu” brings us on a journey to see this landscape up close. The video, which was released in October 2020, uses elevation data and high-resolution imagery from the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft to provide viewers with stunning 3D vistas of Bennu’s rugged terrain. On August 9 and 11, 2021, “Tour of Asteroid Bennu” will be featured in the SIGGRAPH awards electronic theater. Producer Dan Gallagher and data visualizer Kel Elkins discuss the making of the video, and how data-driven animation is enabling viewers to explore new worlds like Bennu.

I love this so much. So emotional. I am thrilled to have been able to live long enough to experience it.
You are a privileged human, how many others didn't see anything like this, even today. Think about.
That is some pretty serious data visualisation.
Amazing!! This work is truly spectacular, better than what Hollywood can imagine… :-) Thank you NASA! 🙏
Also, 8k 3D stereo video uploads please. Many people have VR goggles and seeing this in 3D would be awesome.
this asteroid relatively is young in geological term.
Nice one NASA
Too cool.
I love this stuff! Fantastic work everybody!!
Most amazing tour I have ever traveled...thank you NASA
This is amazing
Love..from.. India
Awesome stuff guys!
So fascinating.
Could that be run in real time in UE5?
Oh my god that is now all I want
YES
What is a virtual camera?
Awesome stuff!
When is it supposed to slam into earth?
Is there any object we can hitch a ride to get to mars or Ceres etc. Part way or collecting fuels?
Not really, you’d spend more fuel getting to any asteroid then going to Mars, rather than just going directly. You can’t just “stop” in space
Now, fuel production at an asteroid might be possible but it’d have to be shipped to Mars or Earth orbit to be somewhere useful.
@@milky_wayan was thinking fuel robotic craft in no hurry.
I'm eagerly awaiting whatever xenoplague you guys bring back from Bennu.
Nice video.✔️
🇧🇷🙏🙏
Galactica Amazing 🤔
Halo Nasa
I reckon it could run Crysis...
No music.
Niiice
where does dirt come from? how it is made?
! 💝 💯 👏 🎉 🙏 🚀 👍 🤖 🌝 !

😂😂😂😂
Bennu dees nutz
Really cool and awsome. But dont distort language. This is not a "world" its just an intresting rock. Name thigs with what they are. You are scientists not reinnacansse literature poets.
I have a dream, that someday NASA will stop glorifying pagan gods.
