  • An interesting video from the late 60's, early 70's, showing a bunch of flame spray wire and powder applications. Some really cool slow-motion shots of a steel wire atomizing, abrasive blasting profiles, coating a hydroelectric turbine onsite, spray and fuse coatings, and much more. I use clips from this video during my thermal spray training classes.     A rather interesting thermal spraying process was developed in the USSR back in the early 1980s. It used a kerosene ramjet powered by a large air compressor to heat and propel powdered metal at supersonic velocities. It was developed for blasting and metallising gas pipelines.
