The town center has been decimated by the out of town shopping centre at Manor West combined with the racketeers at Kerry County Council demanding exorbitant rates for businesses. I remember when Tralee town was an exciting place to just hang around in now its a pretty depressing place.
Tralee used to be a brilliant town. Well paid manufacturing jobs, full of shops, loads of pubs and discos. All the factories and night clubs are closed now and most of the shops apart from charity and phone repair shops are located in a huge retail park on the outskirts of the town.
I use my motorbike or pedal bike to do small jobs around town now - takes too long to take the jeep over the traffic jams. My poor Dad was alive back then. (I am assuming from the oldest comment that this must have been sometime in 2013). Thanks for not playing the rose of tralee - that ruins most Tralee videos.
The funniest part was when he is passing the Aqua Dome and comments "That's the Dome on the right, where the Festival is held every year.". Totally false, of course. The Rose of Tralee Festival selection is held in a specially-erected temporary Festival Dome, sited on the grounds of the Fels Point Hotel.
Thank you Tim, I was about to make that correction, as for The Fels Point Hotel, The Carlton Hotel and now The Rose hotel. yes all the same place for our friend juk ajoj below. Started out as The Fels Point, Then Carlton and after the parents of a former Rose became involved and purchased or part purchased it the named it The Rose Hotel and invested a large amount of money into it. As for the Dome, There are plans to build a permanent fixture in the grounds nrext to it where the Dome is errected anually. What our driver of course was refferring to was in fact the Aqua Dome , a water sports activity centre.
