what blows my mind is that part way thru they start change things like the hair and hands AFTER starting a crap ton of painting. At my current stage i could never do that. After i start coloring, i'm way to committed to the pose. It takes some real mastery to do that IMO. Amazing work as always.

Very intriguing. your forms and color compositions are very well thought out. One question that comes to mind with this piece was how many thumbnails or rough sketches did you do? I noticed that there were much editing and shifting of line art. While I enjoyed your thought process, I wonder how much time you could have with some more thought out preplanning. All in all, a wonderful piece to study from.
I didn't do any planning for this picture because it is a pretty straight forward piece haha, most of the time I am not able to see the problems until I give the piece time as well, which means I'd have to go with the game company approach like thumbnails then values then colour keys and stuff in order to foresee a lot of these problems, but give it too much time and I would lose interest in actually drawing it to finish as I had working on things that way in the past, so usually for my own pieces I just go with the flow and make changes along the way (:

Gorgeous painting and great attention to details! I loved how the shading and highlighting of the patterned gold fabric was done. Does someone understand what happens around 48:55? It looks like a useful way to precisely paste something from one part of the painting to another, but I can't reproduce it. I tried using the quick mask mode, but all I get is the shape of the selection to move, rather than a pasted portion of the image.
Just the highlights on the gilden parts must have been a pain to work with. So many angles of reflection. This is truely an inspiring masterpiece. May I ask for how many years you've been practicing and did you study at an university, or did you aquire your evident knowledge with both art direction and the programm used all on your own?
