La Serenissima... the most serene... the other name given to the floating city... Venezia...
...would not even know from where to start here... from the day I sat down at my piano and this dramatic tune was born... as I got carried away with keys... synths and strings and this sound started coming together... which reminded me of the unique mix of classic and electronic sounds which charmed me as I was growing up... listened to a lot of Rondo' Veneziano back in the days... then a trip to Venice came in plan... Venice in January is very unique... foggy chilly days as the hauntingly beautiful city breathes slowly... each alley... each canal is a whole mystery... loved the cloudy skies and the slow rhythm as I was there... walked a lot and sipped many coffees to warm up... of course the delicious Venetian cuisine also came in to play... cozy restaurants and outdoor cafés with blankets next to the Rialto Bridge... how charming is that... those Gondolas floating on waters... the masks that haunt you at each corner you look at which almost give you the impression they would come to life... the majestic Piazza San Marco ...the doomed yet captivating Ponte dei Sospiri, the enclosed Bridge of Sighs which the prisoners passed through and sighed on... as they could get their last glimpse of Venice and the skies... before they are taken down to the dungeons from which they would never ever get out... I hold on tight to my time in Venice earlier on this year... and to this composition which led me to it...

It's a great solitary journey with your charming piano in an elegant dress in a place alive with art, water, stillness... That ostinato at the beginning and end marks the entrance and exit of the house! It is suggestive, but homely because it makes you return to your favorite place where your heart resonates!
