One big advantage to the fire arrow is that you can basically keep one lit and nocked, and it stays lit indefinitely. That gives off a lot more light than your lighter does, and it doesn't burn out like other fire weapons.

I was excited until they did a 180 and instead said it's now early access. Just gonna wait until full release so I'm not disappointed and a beta tester. Multiple delays and 3 weeks before launch it's now going to be early access - can't be good surely.

This *was* Endnight's first attempt at releasing a game fully, without Early Access - and that must be difficult especially with a team size as small as they have. I believe Endnight has like 10-15 people working on SotF, whereas other games of this calibre usually have a lot more. I think the game is going to be fine in Early Access - it's just not going to be as polished as they wanted, and they didn't want to delay it again - nor did they want to call it a "full release" and still have some polish work that needed to be done, as most games tend to do now. I think Early Access is a great compromise between delaying the game yet again, and a full release. Multiple delays really isn't that uncommon now unfortunately, though I understand how frustrating it is. Just look up how many games were delayed in 2022. Anyways, I don't wanna harp on about it too much, I do understand where you're coming from and how frustrating it can be. But I do think it'll be better than you think. :)
It’s interesting how despite whatever the actual stats are so many who play the Forest use a different main weapon. In the beginning I go katana, towards the middle modern axe, then at the end the machete and the modern bow. Would be cool in SotF if there were no visible stats for weapons so you really gotta get a feel for everything and decide based on feeling and not stats.
It really amazes me how much Love and Detail you put into the Design and Presentation of your Videos. The timestamps and the duration indication bar on the top for each weapon you talked about are great examples for that. So, thanks and cheers!

I appreciate you making this video and breaking it all down. I literally just started The Forest. It's been in my library for years and the release of Sons of the Forest is whats motivating me to play the first one.
I like to consider hair spray an S tier easily. It’s got a lot of ammo, and if you just ‘tap’ it, you can get a ridiculous amount of use out of it before it runs out, and it trivializes basically the entire game because you can just grab it at the modern axe cave (somewhere you’ll end up at one way or another) and it can last you to the fight with Megan.
Loving all these videos, really helps build up hype for sequel. Also, makes me sad to realize that one of these days its gonna be your last video on The Forest...assuming the sequel makes the OG obsolete.
I completely agree with you, especially with the Katana's value being different between Normal and Hard Survival. Even after 1000+ hours in the game I usually prefer the katana over the modern axe because I never got good at melee combat. The speed to the katana can be a live saver if you're not great with reading enemy animations and timing. I've found that due to my crappy melee skills I always do better with the katana. With that said in hard survival the katana is just not worth it. You just don't do enough damage with it, especially when you're surrounded.
The spear is honestly a great weapon against mutants. You can dodge the mutants' attacks(or set them on fire if it's a cowman) and kill them with 5 spear throws on normal difficulty. The spear bag can hold 5 spears at a time and it's even better if you pick up the spear after it hits the mutant
Getting headshots with the flintlock pistol is easy. You can also duplicate ammo if you have 31 and the pan that you get in multiplayer. Honestly, if you want to get it, bring at least one friend, go to modern axe cave and get dynamite, and then go to the 8 locations. It’s really useful, and I would actually put it in its own section above the others. Truly very useful, and a necessity. Though, that’s just my opinion of it.
Damn, at the end of video I've been hit by a huge wave of nostalgia. This is probably the last video of Farket on The Forest, it's the end of an era. I'm looking forward for the next one. See y'all tomorrow in Site 2.

At 99 strength the machete is my favorite, cause by then you'll likely have an abundance of armor and a good idea of attack patterns making block unnecessary tbh.
I make it first in all my worlds its so useful for hunting most animals and if you want too you can make a tree platform or sit in the yacht and shoot mutants with fire arrows on normal
I'm replaying the forest, this time with friends (finally) and I came across this old video of yours, and also watched the one or armor. I always go full camo armor. I never knew it had the disadvantage that it burns so quickly, but it makes sense. I when it comes to weapons, I want to share a small detail. Since I like to go sneaky mode for good headshots. I noticed something. If you attach a flashlight to a bow, enemies do NOT notice the light, or affects the chance of being noticed, as the game things you are holding a bow, not the flashlight. So It's great to have the flashlight attached to it and aim to light up your path. The game will consider it as if you are walking in the darkness. So even in hard difficulty I always try to go for headshots, if I encounter a stronger enemy or a mutant I still open with fire arrows or poison if I have them, as the passive extra damage is always useful.

I definitely agree with the Upgraded Spear being in B tier. It's my favourite early game weapon because you can get it very fast, I know you can get other things faster which are better - for but someone like me who doesn't like rushing the best gear immediately - it's great. Really solid weapon for the early game.
I always just use the upgraded spear and throw it, very easy to make from the start of the game and kills most cannibals in 1 to 3 throws. Just gotta think about aiming it towards the ground so in case you miss completely, it doesn't fly across the world, they're damn near impossible to find again. Definite S tier

I had a feeling that you were going to put modern bow & arrows to the top of the list. They together are everything a survivor needs in the game. Once you have it, every other weapon seems like support items. Headshot is too powerful. What makes flintlock sooooo bad, is the bugged headshots with it. It just doesn't matter how good your aim is, even if you get all the headshots delivered with the modern bow, it won't give you headshots. The gun is just a fun weapon because of that, like the arm, stick, head etc.
i also have some sort of configuration for weapon slots too it helped me survive for a long time and it falls to two categories survival: 1modern axe (if i have it otherwise it'll be rusty or plane) 2weak spear (for hunting) 3machete (for fast tasking and defense) 4bow or slingshot (for small game hunting) combat:1katana (it's my preffered weapon because it attacks fast and deals decent damage) 2club (to finish off with a heavy attack if the cannibal is downed) 3flintlock pistol (it has interesting properties against mutants..) 4any bow for distanced combat OR throwables to use them on crowds
I actually consider skull club S tier, because it swings faster than the modern axe because of the animations. It has fast horizontal swings, noticeably faster than the modern axe, even if you have 30 feathers on the axe, with the skull club not upgraded. This makes it a better weapon for dealing with those little fast cannibals, and the block has the same strength as the modern axe as well. I don't like the katana, because it has no block stat, so you take damage from all types of cannibals. With the skull club, you can block every cannibal attack except for cowman charges and molotovs from the fire cannibals. If you get cornered by armsy or virginia, you can hold block and tank all their attacks without taking damage.
I abuse upgraded spear against cowman, they can't really charge at you if you're too near. Most of the time they will just stomp the ground. With the upgraded spear long range as a melee, you can avoid getting hit by the stomp and avoid getting charged at the same time.

Upgraded Spear is honestly S tier for me, I am just good at ranged melee weapons in games like this and the Upgrades Spear fits me perfectly, and I absolutely love it, but its major weakness is groups yes although if your good at picking groups apart, then thats not really a problem, though mutants just straight up need ranged weapons like bows, explosives etc with flare guns being my go too mutant killer.
I’ve done several speed runs of the Forest and I think the chainsaw is the most important tool to do it. It is a bit cheesy but I wait for the final boss to stick it’s legs through the wall in back and I chainsaw it until it dies.
both of the spears theres a cool feature where when you poke the ground, it doesnt use stamina. you can aim it high enough to hit a cannibal, so you can attack them without even using stamina.
So actually on normal at least you can reach the crossbow cave without the rebreather you will take a little damage but you will survive. You can do this as soon as the game starts as well
17:08 I'd put that straight into A tier just because of the comedic effect of beating your friend with a fish in multiplayer 19:02 For the forest Vr the modern bow is absolutely awesome since drawback speed is as fast as you can move your arm irl, and headshots are so easy to do in vr
shoulda mentioned that the upgraded rock with cloth automatically ignites when thrown from a catapult, just like a tnt stick. its a huge waste of resources and you can only put in/make one at a time, but you can do it.

Flare gun is S for me, if you get good with it you can set a whole raid party of fire with one shot. Throw a stick of dynamite or bomb right after and even on hard you can pretty much ignore attacks when you're at your logging site or elsewhere, though I only suggest that combo at base if building destruction is off
Skulls actually DO have utility uses. Building a skull lamp out of 1 skull and 2 sticks provides a little bit of constant light without needing to use leaves or cash to keep the fire going. I’ve got about 10-15 around my base and a lighter/ flashlight at night isn’t even needed.
Wait a second, you can put venous berries on the Katana and make the cannibals be on the poison status, where they get slower and lost some health eventually, only problem is depending of how many berries you put it, the effect of the poison sword will wore off, but definitely help me with the mutants
Idk the head club that the enemies drop is the best weapon its very strong but the katana is like the worst weapon in the game you cnat even block with it
I’m a bit salty about the modern axe not being brought back in SoTF, but a katana is? The title literally has Forest (both titles actually) yet somehow a katana is being carried over and not a weapon/tool that actually cuts down trees & merks cannibals. Anywho, I am so excited. These last few weeks I’ve felt like a kid in December waiting for Christmas Day. I’m bitten by the mouth to finally experience this game. It’s bittersweet because a few people I watch are closing the book entirely regarding The Forest, and won’t be playing it anymore. I can’t explain how much I truly enjoyed the Forest and I know I’ll always come back to it, this isn’t the end for me. I feel like I’m typing a freakin speech or some thing, lol. But the Forest has and will always have a very special place for me. I remember playing before poison arrows and bone fences were implemented and I truly have to praise the devs, for making a game that is truly something special, unique, and fun as heck. Theres otge axes we saw, one looks like the modern axe but much smaller, tgeres probably going to be an equivalent one, or maybe a more nerfed one lol. I feel you, my favourite tging to do was to go grab the axe as soon as I crashed, my favourite weapon too
I would've put the gun in B tier for the simple fact of if you can get enough ammo and aim fairly well the boss becomes even more of a walk in the park
Pistol is so OP, bcause it's glitched, sometimes u can one hit virginia/armsy i love that. Without glitch's, weak spear is the greatest weapon in the game, u can throw and pick up, repeat that and easy kill. It's easy to get and you can have several spears. And typical melee weapons, hmm, Club is amazing, because that have best DPS, but still i love Katana.
I only found The Forest 3 months ago 😂 moved from console to pc, loaded up unlimited hairspray and never looked back. But I do hear the screams of the burning dear in my dreams 🙈👀
I think the flintlock is definitely an S-tier. It can kill regular mutants in 2-3 hits and the blu once in 5-6. The ammo can also easily be duplicated to get thousands of bullets if you want to do so.
Nah started a new game and I had a really good player playing with me so I decided to just go insane so I would just run at mutants with a club and then when we got chainsaw I became a physcopath
Fun fact youcan have like 100 toys as for some reason the parts respawn

The thing about molotov is that it provides unlimited light source because (as far as I know) it never goes out. I loved it in the caves

I abuse upgraded spear against cowman, they can't really charge at you if you're too near. Most of the time they will just stomp the ground. With the upgraded spear long range as a melee, you can avoid getting hit by the stomp and avoid getting charged at the same time.
In VR the upgraded spear is ridiculously good, theres literally no danger when using it in VR just cuz of how long you reach with it
I love vr the forest but not only does connecting to my computer with my quest 2 overheat my computer but I get motion sick after 5 minutes 😂
@@colbiashimaru well the sickness goes away with the first few hundred hours in VR, i have 4000 in my index alone and i got like no sickness from anything anymore

Upgraded Spear is honestly S tier for me, I am just good at ranged melee weapons in games like this and the Upgrades Spear fits me perfectly, and I absolutely love it, but its major weakness is groups yes although if your good at picking groups apart, then thats not really a problem, though mutants just straight up need ranged weapons like bows, explosives etc with flare guns being my go too mutant killer.

I’ve done several speed runs of the Forest and I think the chainsaw is the most important tool to do it. It is a bit cheesy but I wait for the final boss to stick it’s legs through the wall in back and I chainsaw it until it dies.

both of the spears theres a cool feature where when you poke the ground, it doesnt use stamina. you can aim it high enough to hit a cannibal, so you can attack them without even using stamina.

So actually on normal at least you can reach the crossbow cave without the rebreather you will take a little damage but you will survive. You can do this as soon as the game starts as well
I would actually love für you to deep-dive into 7 Days to Die because this game is so complex but you would certainly be able to „dumb it down“

shoulda mentioned that the upgraded rock with cloth automatically ignites when thrown from a catapult, just like a tnt stick. its a huge waste of resources and you can only put in/make one at a time, but you can do it.

Flare gun is S for me, if you get good with it you can set a whole raid party of fire with one shot. Throw a stick of dynamite or bomb right after and even on hard you can pretty much ignore attacks when you're at your logging site or elsewhere, though I only suggest that combo at base if building destruction is off
Skulls actually DO have utility uses. Building a skull lamp out of 1 skull and 2 sticks provides a little bit of constant light without needing to use leaves or cash to keep the fire going. I’ve got about 10-15 around my base and a lighter/ flashlight at night isn’t even needed.
I'll make sure to use my knowledge gained from this list to benefit me in my final day of playing this game. Can't wait for Sons!!!
Wait a second, you can put venous berries on the Katana and make the cannibals be on the poison status, where they get slower and lost some health eventually, only problem is depending of how many berries you put it, the effect of the poison sword will wore off, but definitely help me with the mutants
Idk the head club that the enemies drop is the best weapon its very strong but the katana is like the worst weapon in the game you cnat even block with it

I’m a bit salty about the modern axe not being brought back in SoTF, but a katana is? The title literally has Forest (both titles actually) yet somehow a katana is being carried over and not a weapon/tool that actually cuts down trees & merks cannibals.
Anywho, I am so excited. These last few weeks I’ve felt like a kid in December waiting for Christmas Day. I’m bitten by the mouth to finally experience this game. It’s bittersweet because a few people I watch are closing the book entirely regarding The Forest, and won’t be playing it anymore. I can’t explain how much I truly enjoyed the Forest and I know I’ll always come back to it, this isn’t the end for me. I feel like I’m typing a freakin speech or some thing, lol. But the Forest has and will always have a very special place for me. I remember playing before poison arrows and bone fences were implemented and I truly have to praise the devs, for making a game that is truly something special, unique, and fun as heck.

Theres otge axes we saw, one looks like the modern axe but much smaller, tgeres probably going to be an equivalent one, or maybe a more nerfed one lol. I feel you, my favourite tging to do was to go grab the axe as soon as I crashed, my favourite weapon too
I would've put the gun in B tier for the simple fact of if you can get enough ammo and aim fairly well the boss becomes even more of a walk in the park
Pistol is so OP, bcause it's glitched, sometimes u can one hit virginia/armsy i love that. Without glitch's, weak spear is the greatest weapon in the game, u can throw and pick up, repeat that and easy kill. It's easy to get and you can have several spears. And typical melee weapons, hmm, Club is amazing, because that have best DPS, but still i love Katana.

I think the flintlock is definitely an S-tier. It can kill regular mutants in 2-3 hits and the blu once in 5-6. The ammo can also easily be duplicated to get thousands of bullets if you want to do so.

Nah started a new game and I had a really good player playing with me so I decided to just go insane so I would just run at mutants with a club and then when we got chainsaw I became a physcopath
