In my opinion learning with others and being in the same room with others who (“are better”) or have experience is actually good if you look at it from another perspective,I feel that way you are pushed to emulate to desire to become better, think different, how to utilize your strength and work on weak areas.Anyone can become a Soft dev it just takes consistency and an intentional work ethic, if you didn’t know something you are most likely to learn it.The thinking of whether people are ahead or not is actually self defeating.Remember no two developers can be alike
2:24 actually if you hate learning you should not only avoid alx but also every thing that is tech related be it software engineering or cloud computing because in tech field there will always be new things to learn and the things u learn will one day be outdated
I don't have any prior coding or software development experience... and at first, I was managing and I was doing very well but now I'm constantly just trying to catch up... I hope I make it through the second month. I only have a part-time job and I'm single with no children so time is not really an issue, but the concepts are gone through very quickly. The grading system does however, work in everyone's favour because you are now able to super score (get more than 100% for a task) which gives you the space to do extremely well on easier tasks and not have to do so well in harder tasks but still reach the average required. I do wish the content was easier to engage with... ALX is not for people who are unable to do research and find their own learning materials. If you need to be guided along the way and have a teacher with you, ALX will be impossible... The community is amazing though and there are always peers who are ready to help you.
I agree with you. It is not at all for a new bee. Not at all for a working class, not at all for self-learning, not at all for self-paced learners, not at all for a working-class person.
All what you said are all correct except that a newbie can't complete the program, I don't agree with that. I was a newbie when I started though I deferred for few months due to lack of resources but here I am almost true with it.
I'm about starting a new cohort and i'm bracing myself for the heavy task ahead. However what i know for a fact is, everything new will be difficult initially. If you've never coded before expect to meet challenges, expect to meet tight deadlines, expect to make sacrifices with your lifestyle and what not. The same way some people drop out of school or resign a job because they cant cope is the same way some people will not finish the alx program because they cant cope and thats ok. The people who do it to the very end don't have 2heads. Its up to you to choose which group you will belong to.
The first point it's factual I am a newbie and I have no idea abt Software Engineering. I thought they will at least introduce us to some more simplified basics for beginners. But the whole process is speeding up and when you don't have prior notice u will lag. U don't HV the privilege to know the previous lessons then boom another confusion drops in. I am currently enrolled but am thinking abt giving up. But if u hv prior knowledge Abt it continue with it. It a good programme but it's not meant for newbies.
Hi thanks so much I am a family man and a tech enthusiast, I just lost my job and am currently looking for another. Moreover, I have been awarded a scholarship with ALX SE. These has put me in a state of unrest having to consider my family duty along side my interest. Thanks to your video am at peace with myself and my resolve reenergized. If someone can run this program working, I can do it too irrespective of the my present situation. Thank you once more
Get into software engineering if its the only thing you ever wanted to do but if you are doing it for the money so that you can get capital to do other things you will FAIL, trust me!

Well good video... It depends on how our perspective resonate with this video. Some might be discouraged and some might see it as a useful information, knowing what to expect and toughen up to face the ALX challenge. But I will say, if you really want to be a software engineer so badly ... Then nothing can stop you... you will successful complete the ALX program.
I get what you saying, but then most of the things you complaining about are just in your mind coz you struggled. Everything new is difficult, I have faced far difficult programmes than ALX. eg, Fibs in Maths and in programming are not approached the same, in programming especially when it comes to Data Structures and Algorithms, you have researched and standardized methods of doing things and don't even require you to have strong math background. You can do and understand graphs without discrete mathematics.
ALX is not imapctful. They rush us through the program. Its like you're not given enough time to assimilate the contents, always rushing students. This is not helpful at all.
What do u think about the AWS and data analysis programs, is it also necessary to have previous experience or knowledge in the IT field before starting to study the program ????
I saw on their page that a data science and data analyst program will open on 20 Feb, is that true and does it require to experience or knowledge in something?
It might get tough but ALX is surely for those who devote their time and attention!!!
stop justifying ur failure just because u were unable to complete ur marathon then it does not mean others will follow suit
If you’re an ALX student, get ready to do hard things and never give up👍

I am doing a masters online, several Coursera courses and am still going to pass this Alx course and come back here and post about it
All the best!

When there's a will, there'll always be a way.
How about you encourage people to go into the program and be self motivated to actually complete it
