I have a Falcon Guide from the American Hiking Society and it states that for May the average maximum temperature in the lower canyon at 92 degrees and the low at 63. I can tell you that I have been snowed on in mid-May on the South Rim and been roasted in March when in unshaded lower sections. The weather varies greatly! If hot try to avoid hiking the lower parts from late morning until after mid-afternoon and as always drink lots of water.
@@michaelra275 I have only hiked it in March and May, but my guide lists the average temps in the inner canyon for Oct as max 84 and min 58 degrees. So it is expected to be cooler. After May 15 they usually turn the water back on for the entire central corridor so more places to get water by just turning on a tap. I think the water normally stays on until Nov 15. I would check that out as things could have changed. It is a great hike. I am going with a group to hike there for Spring Break in late March this year.
What was the temperature like at the bottom this time of year in May? I have been pondering this hike.

@@johnbailey3351 Wow, you never know what you are going to get. Thanks. Maybe Oct is better?
