Smart Farm: Rabbit Urine

- Rabbit farming is slowly turning into a popular farming enterprise. But in the north rift region, rabbit farming is beginning to take on a different dimension. And as Denis Otieno tells us on this week’s agribusiness segment "smart farm", rabbit urine is now turning into liquid gold.
I love to watch articles about Kenyan farmers laterally expanding their farming businesses. We have no market for rabbit meat in my area but fertilizer is in demand everywhere.
Where do you stay?
I am just starting to use it as a fertilizer. The bunny poo is turned into powder and will be sold by the kilo in my country. I also produce vermi juice fertilizer and vermicompost mixed with other stuff that is gold for crops and the soil
Yes me too trialed and found good result in roof garden .1: 6 ltrs of urine n water mix.seems some countries are having this in practice already.
Another name for Rabbit Urine is Liquid Gold ✨✨✨
Keep the go work. I'm behind you
good to hear it is mixed with compost, question is, does she also mix in bio-char to increase the benefits of the compost?
good luck from morocco
Good job
Is she still doing rabbit farming ? Help me with her contact ...
Great initiative
Greetings you could also put soil under the cages and use the worms ( red wrigglers) to break down the compost . You can then sell the valuble worm casts. Chickens can co-exists with rabbits also .Good job.
Would you mind explaining this further please
Chicken are actually directly harmful for rabbits. They cause a lot of dust and rabbits have incredibly sensitive respiratory systems. Keeping them together is a really bad idea.
I used to plant bananas with rabbit manure while in primary school n were best till neibas were amazed. ..
That's awesome. I put it dry powder form and pallets for squash watermelons. Both work awesome. Nothing better than orgarinc. This fall I am getting a send rabbit only for the poo and pee.
Just to know., what is that you use as compost to ferment rabbit urine and what is the ratio of the mixture please...
Where is this factory
For how long can I stock that urine
Great
Charoline ? keep it up.
this is good
lol i think hes refering to desing turkey projects is he being sacarstic?
a need to see this woman
I'm curious, do you use human urine too? particularly on your own farms. Some European countries are starting to build urine diverting toilets so they can harvest human urine for farms (while making sure there's no fecal matter contaminating it) so I'm wondering if people in Kenya use it too
Are you serious about this?
Human urine has the highest amount of urea. And yeah, its a good source of fertilizer too
Please send your mobile no to my no is 8639640340
You can. Child urine under 5 years of age that doesn't take any meds is the best option. Mix 10 liters of water to 2 cups of urine
@@TGGTheGloryofGod Sorry, didn't get your comment till now, but yes. Looking up again years later & not much added to it, so hasn't taken off in the last few years, but Sweden was doing large trial programs on it's use in farmland as fertiliser & apparently Sweden is the only country with a working "Urban multi-storey buildings" system, although it only has one. Urine is safe for crops though, conditional to no meds or drugs in it that could be a problem in the food chain & being stored at 100% concentration for a period of time to neutralise any bacteria, prior to being added to crops. No nasty microbes in urine though, only in faeces. Faeces shouldn't be used on crops without extensive safety considerations & treatments
Can I sell my urine too? LOL I am sure I am better than a rabbit and I drink more water than that little creature! :)
Not if you eat the garbage they sell in the store or fast food restaurants. Child urine without any meds or junk food is 10 times better than yours( ours)
Great. How can i learn how to keep and collect rabbit urine?
I use a strainer and a bucket under the cage. The strainer collects the manure the bucket clect the urine.
eco friendly!

@@big.r5550 why? these poor animals are being treated cruelly. legit animal abuse
@@mohamedamin3581 so what?
You should never grab a rabbit like that! It's an animal not a toy!
Shut up.!
Clearly not a toy. Just an animal bred for meat, fur and fertilizer as you can see. So what is your gripe?
Learn about the anatomy of animals .you will understand why it's held at that point
@@mrukariapaul6864 uh learn about proper way to hold rabbits. these poor rabbits are suffering
@@big.r5550 no. your an animal abuser. even if you do not own animals, supporting animal abuse is just as bad
I find this disgusting. The stench has got to be overwhelming.
servicarrider while all urine has ammonia, rabbits are low. I raise rabbits and they are not as pungent as you might think. And because their ammonia is so low their waste can be used directly in the garden without composting.
The alternative may be to live in poverty. I admire these people.
Every rabbit that I have ever raised has been just exactly like every other farm animal that I have raised. Even under the best of conditions neither they nor their immediate environ are by nature particularly pleasant to the nose and tend to be somewhat odiferous. And of course I never had hundreds of gallons of urine, which grows more pungent with every hour, sitting around fermenting for god only knows how long. The point being...a much more sanitary methodology could be employed to protect both the animals and their human tenders and their families.
Even manuer itself doesn't smell rosey...but it's very beneficial.
@@ladynightbreed1 I love that there is ne need to compost rabbit urine or rabbit dropping. The can go directly into the soil without burning plants.
Sis please number
this is a joke?
Why would it be a joke? Historically urine, blood, fish, etc. have been used as fertilizer. Instead of depending upon expensive and often imported fertilizers they are using locally-produced rabbit urine. It is undoubtedly rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, badly needed additives for poor and overused soils.
Yes, yes and yes. This is a great way to use whats produced in a more efficient way.
No joke.
I never heard of the urine being used but dried rabbit dung is very good as fertilizer too.
My brother and I raised rabbits for years as kids.
Mostly for the meat. It's very low in fat.
I used to empty my rabbit's litter box into my garden. One year I planted sunflowers directly over an area that was almost entirely rabbit litter & the sunflowers grew to about double a person's height & the heads were bigger than a human head! The stuff REALLY works!
