- Hello lovelies, today I will be talking all about Edie Sedgwick and her favorite beauty products that you can still buy today as well as her fashion. Edie Sedgwick (April 20, 1943 - November 16, 1971) was an American socialite, actress, and fashion model. She was best known for being Andy Warhol's muse starring in several of his films. In 1965 Edie was named "The Girl of the year," after starring in several of Warhol's short films in the 1960s. When Warhol's film Poor Little Rich Girl was relased in the art scene in 1965, Edie was deemed a "youthquaker" by Diana Vreeland, the editor of Vogue. Edie then entered icon territory and was rumored to be dating Bob Dylan. Two of his songs, "Just like a Woman," and "Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat," is supposed to be about her.
Edie Sedgwick was the symbol of the freewheeling sixties with her sense of style. She would layer fur and leopard print over striped T-shirts worn as dresses. She also wore massive shoulder-length chandelier earrings and exaggerated mod eye makeup and false lashes.

Edie was obsessed with Erno Lazlo's skincare products. She has Lazlo products practically spilling out of her bags and scattered around her messy apartment. When Sienna Miller was studying for her role as Edie in Factory Girl, she learned about her Lazlo fetish, she went straight to SAKS and bought heaps of Lazlo products for herself.

The book "Edie" by Jean Stein might be a better reference than the movie "Factory Girl." Andy Wahol had money, it seems his fascination was more with Edie's pedigree and beauty. She was supposedly seeing Bob Dylan and was informed of Dylan's marriage by mutual acquaintances. She shopped stores like Bendel's and Paraphernalia, and modeled designer fashions. What is interesting about Edie Sedgwick is how fashion forward she looked, many photographs of her give the viewer a sense that they were taken yesterday.
Andy had money but he liked to let others pay and Edie was one of those people. Such a beautiful young woman.
In the late '60's, I wore mini skirts with fishnet stockings. Everyone had white go-go boots!
thats so fun!
Pam W I remember my neighbor stuck in her hey day and she wore knitted hats.
Madonna reinvented the look in the 80's
Pam W You wore them then even if you were a kid. I can remember wearing them in grade school, we all thought they were so cool.
I never had go-go boots because my mother would say it's too hot to wear boots in Florida.
Sienna Miller did an AMAZING job, almost had the same voice and everything... but unfortunately, the movie is not a good depiction of her and there's actually no proof of her and Dylan having a romantic relationship. She did date for a while Dylan's right hand man Bob Neuwirth and there was kind of a war between the Dylan camp and the Warhol camp, both promising her stardom! I highly suggest everyone instead to read the book Edie : an american biography by Stein and Plimpton. sorry for this long post lol!
Great book!
I adore Edie so much. My late teenage years & early 20's i used to try & copy Edie with the black tights, bat winged eyeliner & the biggest earrings i could find. Just finding out about her made me feel less alone
In the '60s, the Erno Lazlo products were sold as a 'system.' One had to buy the complete set of products, including soap, and one had to sort of be a 'member,' to purchase it. In the Plimpton book, it mentions that Helena Rubenstein was Edie's favorite makeup line. Too, at that time, the huge variety of high end lines (as seen today) was just not present. It was pretty much HR, Estee Lauder, and Elizabeth Arden for high end.
Edie was so cool! I see Erno Lazlo was used by a lot of stars in the 60's.
I know it seems like everyone used it
Laura Jane Atelier A staple we all had was patchouli.
Andy Warhol was a vampire! He used people..."inspired" by them at first, he devoured their essence and spirit, then threw them out in the cold. Edie was a vulnerable girl who couldn't handle this.
true. he was a narcissistic sociopath. pure evil.
@@LadyGreyBlack Driscoll was already a heavy drug user before reaching nyc. Being in Warhol’s scene didn’t help though, clearly, judging by where and how he died.
Love the animal print jacket.😍
thanks Martha
Laura is so classy and beautiful, she leaped through a time portal into 2019, bringing old hollywood into this glamour deprived era❤️❤️
Can you do Jean Harlow and Sophia Loren?
Yes, I am working on them:)
YES to Sophia Loren!!!!
Edie is such a tragic and iconic figure. I owned the Factory Girl movie but gave it away after watching it because it made me so sad. Great video. I would love to see a video about Theda Bara, the original vamp.
Fracas is the Tuberose of all Tuberoses perfume.
She also wore Femme by Rochas and Intamite by Revlon perfume.
A few times I've found some Erno Lazlo skin care at Marshalls and TJ Maxx, not the most expensive moisturizers, but the soaps, etc. I bought all I ever found because I know how expensive it is. I always feel glamorous using it, but I think modern formulas are probably better as we know more about skin care than we did years ago. Erno Lazlo has some newer products that have modern formulations but they are missing the cache of knowing one is using something a movie star once did.
Love this, Edie was so trendy and ahead of her time in many ways. I would love it if you did a video on Anna Karina’s beauty secrets!
Hillarious!
my goodness, she was beautiful! thankyou for giving me inspiration!
I remember Edie well along with Twiggy.
I used to be obsessed with her after Factory Girl came out.
One of my favorite videos. I have a picture of my mother from the late 60's wearing a leopard print coat. She was very beautiful in her day, she still is even now in her 70's. Thank you for sharing, I have always wanted to watch Factory Girl, now I have to find it for certain 😀😀😀.
yes you need too it is so good
My mother also wow the 1960s she was stunning.and so simple...healthy!
That black and white dress is my favorite. Wonderful video. You are one of my favorite people to watch
Awesome video. She was also one of the first to wear a pixie cut.
I love Edie so much! I believe she saved my form my self... I really wanted to name my little girl Edie but my husband didn’t want the word die in her name. I named her Sienna.
I am obsessed with anything Edie. Love the coat, it is spot on, I have one myself. Factory Girl lives on in my heart, I celebrate her everyday. love and peace to you dear.
The shoes were everything. You just needed a Pucci scarf. Lovely videos. Enjoying them. Blessings.
thank you so much for this, i adore edie and there isn't enough content on the internet about her like this, everyone seems to know andy, but never edie :(
Found your channel a few days ago and love it. Though I am much older than you(58) I love your content. I collect Eiffel Towers and anything Parisian.
California Glo 💄I’m 51 & just discovered her channel almost 2 weeks ago. Loving this. 💅🏻
Love your channel, I am also 58
You looked so glamorous in all the outfits Laura! Just loved that faux fur leopard coat - it suits you beautifully.
I could so see her wearing Fracas too such a lovely fragrance.
I claim you as my cyber daughter lol you’re an “old” soul like me and I love it!! Of course now at 55 I’m getting to be an actual old soul AND old body lol love love all the outfits you put together!! Have you always liked vintage things!? I like all things beautiful that speak to me whether old or new
I saw Factory Girl about 2 weeks ago and I've been fascinated with Edie shes just such an interesting person
I adore this series. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these!💕💕💕
Thank you, the black turtleneck, and leopard coat was my favorite. 🐩🌹
I would love to see a video about Bette Davis and her favorite beauty products if possible. She is my fav!
You look so pretty, my favorite is the second outfit the shiny skirt is just gorgeous
If you want to channel Edie, perhaps you should slim it down a bit.
I love the research you do for these videos, I've been watching all your videos lately and love them! 💗
You are so precious Laura 💕 thank you for sharing your videos!
That iconic Lazlo bottle. So clearly visible on Monroe's bedside table in the coroner's pictures. It creeps me out. I'm kinda glad I can't afford it LOL. Those Fendi shoes though,I love them. And that first dress!!
Awesome video as usual. Thank you for all your work.
You have such a good eye for time period and details!
Im so thrilled to have found your channel. Thanks so much for sharing.💜♥💜
Laura I 💙 you! Thank goodness for your channel, and the things you've done ...I love history and art and collecting opp shop items ...🌈🌻🌹 you always cheer me up sweetheart
I absolutely LOVE your channel and this series
She’s a HUGE style inspiration for me. I wear black tights every single day... have done for many years at this point even in the summer 😬 Thank you so much for posting this. She was something special, I hope she found peace at last x
I am curious to see the movie Factory Girl now!! Never heard of Eddie Sedgwick prior to this. Thank you 😊
I love her!!! Thank you for this video 😻
Absolutely adore Edie😍 was so excited to see u do this, thank for sharing this!
Thanks for watching
I loved her!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Great Edie's stuff thank you for this. ❤️👍
Laura,Thank You for this great video ! I love Edie Sedgwick, and I did see Factory Girl.I felt so sad that Warhol used her, because she had "Social Standing". I wonder what Edie would have become had she been alive today. She certainly was a true 60's Girl, she was the American "Twiggy". I read everything I can about her,she still intrigues me ! I love the Animal print coat you're wearing,it works with everything ! I can't wait to see who your next style Icon will be ! Cindy
Thanks so much Cindy
She was the real, “authentic” Twiggy. Twiggy was completely manufactured by other people but everything Edie did was all 100% Edie.
Her story was sad
Andy Warhol really did not use Edie Sedgwick. It seemed to be a two way street with his crowd being more fascinated with her than her crowd was with him. From what I have read, few of Andy Warhol's actors were paid.
70sNEON yeah, you’re right. According to the Edie biography she was already tripping on lsd and driving her dad’s Mercedes around Boston before she moved to NY.
Great review. Always nostalgic....live your reviews!
You did a good job capturing Edie’s style. 😀
Laura thank you so much honey!
For your these kind of beautiful and great videos its a lot of fun and their favorite products are a great skincare for us thank you so so much for your hard working❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's one of my favorite books!
Great video! Loved the striped t neck and leopard skirt and the last look that you modeled!
I remember watching factory girl when I was 13 and becoming so intrigued and fascinated by her. Btw I love the turtle neck with the fur coat on you! :)
Awesome video as usual! I would love to see a video on 60s/70s Bond girls such as Britt Ekland and Barbara bach! ❤️❤️
I love the white dress! Just great!
I just found your channel and I'm absolutely obsessed 😍😍😍
Great video ! Love all the looks. She had great style.
You look so amazing with this makeup on Laura.
Great video.
It didn't come up that you have posted new videos.
I'm happy I popped in to have a look.
Thank you for all your great videos.
This was fun!! I loved her too!!
Terrific outfits
Obsessed with Edie . Good job .
Great video!! I now must see the movie!! Thanks for the idea.
Awesome video as always! I just adore your channel! Love that silver bag & shoes! I had Mary Jane wedding shoes when I got married! That while & black dress is adorable!
I loved your video! Very informative.
Brava! Well done! I love that silk skirt!
Hi. I enjoyed this. Of the outfits, something about the last one you modeled felt like an Edie Sedgwick to me. The turtleneck, faux fur coat & pleated skirt. All were good choices. Edie had her own style, & led a unique albeit too short life. Thank you for this!
Love these!
Thanks Kim
I was obsessed with Factory Girl too :)
I was obsessed with Factory Girl when I was in High School 💕
Laura, you’re so elegant. Edie would be proud!
Really loving your channel!! ❤️
Wow! A blast from the past. I used Erno Laszlo in the 80's. Good stuff. May have to revisit just for the nostalgia. 😊
Im impressed that have the book about her life. It’s an amazing book!
The song you played while modeling the outfits is BEAUTIFUL
9:23 🥰🥰
You do great videos but it would really be cool if the accompanying music matched the period/icon. It would’ve been cool to hear Velvet Underground or Bob Dylan’s Just Like a Woman in the background
I would love it too, but her videos would be taken down for copyright infringement if she used music without permission. RUclips has cracked down hard on this the past few years since artists & labels have sued. Even for a few seconds of music...
Love the faux fur coat
This is a video I didn't expect but
Enjoyed it
Laura I am watching all your videos. I love so much your channel 😍
Edie was so lovely. And her grandfather invented the elevator. You captured her style perfectly.
Hi Laura🙋, I remember the ads for the movie Factory Girl, but I never did see the movie. I've always been intrigued by Andy Warhol. Poor Edie! I hate that she overdosed.🙎 Well now I really want to see that movie. I like the dress with the lace-like front. Of course love the leopard coat. I didn't know she dated Bob Dylan! Thanks for the video, great as always.
I love Edie🤍✨
Great video😌👌🏽
Beautiful bag 😍
Thank you what a lovely video.
Beautiful!
Love your videos @Laura would you create some videos on vintage icons of Color such as Dorthy Dandridge, Pearl Bailey, Lena Horne and more? They are icons that are often forgotten about because of the injustices of those times, but they were talented trailblazers, that many still do not know about to this day.
Thank you, I hope you will consider doing videos on them 💖.
-Sharon
Thanks Sharon I’m working on Dorthy she will be up soon
Edie will always be a style icon. I love Edie

I meant Chuck Wein My bad!
