@Ms. some things are part of the culture as you said but some of it has to include upbringing and environment. Because we have a lot of African women overseas facing racism and married or single and still cook and clean as you put it. Of course every culture has outliers and even for the very “westernized” native Africans they have boundaries as far as submitting to husbands goes. What makes it easier is because African culture as a whole places a lot of respect for older people and men so it comes easier than in the west where relationships like these are very casual.
From the States (H-Town, TX) I'm diggin the culture, especially the "Bride Price". I think our people in the states need more structure, & respect for culture. That foundation can help heal relationship wounds, dating (w/ purpose), steady marriages, and raising kids.

This is awesome. Oshay, you should promote to the well-accomplished brothers who are travelling for a wife to come and marry a beautiful African woman. I don't think they know how wifey they can be compared to the women in America.
"promote to the well-accomplished brothers"...be sure that these brothers know that they are well accomplished, and most of them will notice and resent a shake down attempt...then it's Zoom to Thailand or off to Brazil.
Most African women are responsive to their husbands in the way that you mentioned because their husbands not only provide but protect them big time!. Not the case in the US. Most (not all) keep talking about going 50/50 or are entirely not responsible. An African man knows his place even if his wife earns an income. Respect is earned!
I’m also East African and in our culture, the bride gift or whatever is set by the bride. It also goes directly to her. The family is not allowed to touch it. So you got some pretty cool bridal ideas. Some people get animals. Some people get jewelry. Some people get religious readings by their husbands if they are very pious. This allows young people to get married and for women to have more control over who is an eligible suitor! At the end of the day, young women want to be with men their own age.
He said "right babe"he even gets her approval on what they actually did when it came to getting her bride price. She is definitely worth it little brother from another mother. He did good and you did good and choosing one another.😢 So happy for you guys.
Same in South Africa. No meeting parents until you bring cows. Although I have to admit American culture is very influential here so you do get parents who all their sons/daughters to introduce them to their boyfriend/girlfriend.
You always get what you deserve: this guy growing up in usa and never met another girl until he met the right one, very surprising...same was to me, now 7 kids in North America. God will always bless your respect to yourself and to others

@@africaine4889 lady don't concern yourself with who I marry or don't marry. The problem with bride price isn't my problem, it's Africa's problem because of the social effects it has. Young people speak freely when there are no "not so wise elders" around. They suffer because of old people. Men still moving around and acting like boys well into their thirties, being fully sexually mature and producing babies all over the place, the poverty and lack of opportunity keeping bride price out of their reach, but old people benefit from the free labor of children and young adults who resentfully abandon them at the first opportunity leaving their old selfish asses to beg in the streets or begin selling off land. There’s a lot of bashing of Black American women here. There are agendas at play as to why Black women and Black men are divided. To say these things in front of Africans just creates division also. All African women aren’t feminine. There is a spectrum. They are being put on a pedestal. The cultures are different. Most non-American women will show you everything you want to see.

Black american women do all the things Y’all saying black american women don't. It takes a real black american man to be with a black american women, not any man can. We are just not gonna be a slave if we're out working all day. It's not healthy to have to come home and do everything by ourselves, if he can help do it too, and if you have children they should be assisting. Everyone helps each other. We're not about to be run down because this society has done that to both of us enough as it is. I come from a culture where black american women do everything Y’all say other women be doing, so Y’all lying and in my marriage my husband was required to meet my father even when we dated, it's safer even if your not married. @KyheemCarter No, I'm speaking about today, I know many black american women who do all of these things he is saying he supposedly can't get in america, this is a narrative they're using. It's the same one they use when marrying and dating interracially. Instead of just being honest and just saying that he doesn't want a black american women, he lies and puts a negative stigma on black americans' period. It's disrespectful, and there are black american women who will look at this and use it as an excuse to do the same. He is self-hating also because he made sure he adhered to the standards of his wife's culture while ignoring his by not making sure his parents meet her parents. He knows he wouldn't do that for a black american women anyways if it was vise versa. A lot of these males will go and conform to other foreign peoples standards while neglecting their own. Because at the end of the day, they're going to understand me. They're going to understand that our people is not something to throw away. The disrespect is over the top. If I did get someone from another culture, I'm gonna expect the same from him as I would an american black man, and I'm not gonna prop him up. Appreciate the male guest to point out the fact that the woman is stuck in traffic after work , etc etc,… This host has NEVER appreciated the dynamics of the work life system in the 2 worlds. He ONLY sees the system not the cause. IF HE WAS MY DOCTOR I WOULD RUN.
You bring up a good point, there. In Western culture, the husband/men help out a lot compared with some other cultures. My father was a Jamaican man who was born in the 1930s. He worked a typical 9 to 5 job when immigrated to the States. My Mom was Jamaican as well, she was a nurse who worked the night shift, and my Dad would make sure that me and my brother were ready for school, had our breakfast, etc. In fact, I learned how to cook from my father. Additionally, I grew up around other Jamaicans from the same generation who experienced the same thing, and that's one of the reasons you'll find a lot of Jamaican men who know how to cook (and clean).
Very few percentage of women have a maid. Most work outside or are sellers in the market and come back home to do housework. Sometimes kids are left at grandmother or a relative house. The daughters start helping the mothers with household cores when they are 10 years old, others 9. My sister started cooking for us when she was 9. My mother was a market seller.
This guy is not FBA! African America is a title that doesn't describe all black Americans, remember we have had massive immigration since the 60s an most of these people are not apart of the old bloodlines!
My uncle has been married to his Ghanaian wife for 20 years. I really hate how black men, talk all this mess as o'shay is talking right now at about 18 minutes or so. AA men get with these african women and run over them. My uncle treats his wife like sh*t but she takes very good care of him. She doesn't like being treated bad but she doesn't speak up for herself either. So there's that. The women in my family all have had to work long hours on a job, go home and cook dinner for the husband and the kids. Guess what, all of my uncles are horrible, all of them cheated on my aunts, caused them to have some many health problems and all of them have children outside of the marriage. So there's that. Its a shame that you people sit there and pretend like AA women are nothing. Why even compare the two if you're not going to tell the truth!?! Tell jonita and the rest of the african women the truth. Be with whomever you want to be with, but don't go and bash the sista's to the african woman, because you feel like she's not smart. My uncle did the same thing until he brought his wife to meet us, she said everything he told her was a lie. Stop lying to these women.

From the States (H-Town, TX) I'm diggin the culture, especially the "Bride Price". I think our people in the states need more structure, & respect for culture. That foundation can help heal relationship wounds, dating (w/ purpose), steady marriages, and raising kids.
Agree completely my brother. And it's "bride price". 😅💯

As an African-American woman I am not mad at you. As long as she is of African descent I am good I am pleasantly surprised and I'm happy for you guys. At least you're doing it the right way. The American way is to have children then marry..... maybe 🤷🏿♀️ the proper way to do it is what you all are doing you marry her then you enjoy dating her, while being married. You make it work no matter what you all made a promise to God, for better or worse in sickness and in health, till death do you part.🎉🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations to the blushing Bride and congratulations to the groom. I am so happy for you guys. Congratulations this will be the best time of your life.❤❤❤❤

As a Nigerian man that's a sweet message..I hope you find happiness too❤❤❤

Good to have you back.
Let us not compare our sisters. That is putting them against eachother.
Most African women are responsive to their husbands in the way that you mentioned because their husbands not only provide but protect them big time!. Not the case in the US. Most (not all) keep talking about going 50/50 or are entirely not responsible. An African man knows his place even if his wife earns an income. Respect is earned!
I really enjoyed the podcast. Good luck with the marriage king.
Great content. Congrats, Brandon. 🥇🏆
He said "right babe"he even gets her approval on what they actually did when it came to getting her bride price. She is definitely worth it little brother from another mother. He did good and you did good and choosing one another.😢 So happy for you guys.
Uh oh, is Mama Jackson wanting some Lil Oshays? 😂
Great question 😂
I really like the repat podcast.

This is funny. Our Black American men are in SO MUCH pain.

Same in South Africa. No meeting parents until you bring cows. Although I have to admit American culture is very influential here so you do get parents who all their sons/daughters to introduce them to their boyfriend/girlfriend.

You can hold on to your old outdated irrelevant BS and call it "appreciation" or anything else you want to call it, the bribery and corruption plaguing the continent is also called "appreciation". Oshay, mentioned African men show appreciation, that is key.
What up O’Shay. As an African American I’ve noticed that when we date a person from another culture we tend to always be the ones that adjust our conduct and cultural norms to adhere to the other persons cultural norms. I rarely see it reciprocated. It appears as it’s almost become the expectation. Even in the relationships in America.
In what case are your cultural norms being pushed to the side?

He talks about Black American women being professional, but don’t talk about the lack in African American men. He’s not talking about the amount of Black American men who are lackluster and don’t have good values, morals, and are not traditional in any sense of the word. They talk about Black American women not growing up with a father, like it’s not the men choosing not to be active in their children’s life. This conversation is one sided and disingenuous.
They talk about African American women being masculine and don’t understand the greater context. And I am a woman from the Caribbean.
The idea that you expect a woman to slave herself out is crazy to me. When you talk about feminine energy, how does Black American culture foster that energy? This conversation is intellectually limited!
In the African American culture there are seldom dads in the picture and there are no cultural rituals unlike in Africa. It’s a serious matter. I have several advanced degrees. I live in the USA and I have cooked almost everyday for years and submissive at home.

Really its so sad my heart is full. down thru time BW have taken a licking but managed to keep on ticking. Yes there are bad women but this is all people, majority of black women have stuck with their Man through thick and thin. Yes this younger generation is different but to hear black men do and say I just don't know! Now a lot of black women are turning to wm, the majority of black women want their own men but have been rejected. God help us!
Great 👏👏 show guys I enjoyed watching.. to add to what the other guy was sayings about AFRICAN WOMEN get influence when they travel to America they start to change or something like that.. I don't think is in a bad way it is more like. I have a voice here I can speak out and stand for myself when I'm being treated badly.. because back home there's nothing like that.. I'm from Nigeria so most Girls Growing in Africa we saw our mothers, sisters, aunties being abuse & treated badly by our fathers,& uncles but couldn't do/ say anything cause of their softness & how we were raised.. so you coming to America and seeing things done different knowing that you now have a voice and can stand up for themselves and not accept bad treatment the thing is any woman can be soft or feminine to a man but it's just the Fear of getting abuse cause a lot of men tend to use advantage of the women being feminine to be abusive &mistreat her so men should just learn not to take advantage of a woman softness..
💯 agreed @Favor Atta
This is a good information, but it does not apply to all tribes in Uganda. Other tribes will have a different way of doing a marriage.

I don't believe there's a bashing of Black American women. I happen to be married to a Black American woman who is the greatest woman I've ever met!
Truth is truth. There is a problem with some of the sisters from our group. And it is a bad one. You just fail to acknowledge it.
You have to just look into the history of one of the hosts and you will see why these types of comments exist. His audience is following him.

Why does the man have to pay for the woman when the father would be releasing an expensive and giving it unto another man
The man is the asset , shouldn't the woman's family should pay him?
That's their culture. In India women pay dairies to men. If you don't understand it then it's not for you.
We met in high school and have been together 32 years. We grew up in the 80s and 90s, which is one of the best Era's if you ask me.
You’re speaking from a personal experience of the minority this is not the majority of encounters men half with women this past three decades, especially this last decade
Me and my husband examine the behavior of people here and on the continent, and some things said about their culture was not good. However, he'll go along with it. Good riddens to him, though lol.
I think it's not even just about the cooking and cleaning it's about being polite and kind and soft spoken and knowing when to say something or not to say anything knowing when to back down and always be respectful to your husband and his family and friends at all times
@hopenakita7480 As I said, black american women do that to, y’all really need to stop with the dumb excuses. We have problems with black american men too, a lot of problems and I'm not gonna run to anyone else of another culture, race or ethnicity and prop them up like they're greater than my father, grandfather, brothers, uncles. Because at the end of the day, they're going to understand me. They're going to understand that our people is not something to throw away. The disrespect is over the top. If I did get someone from another culture, I'm gonna expect the same from him as I would an american black man, and I'm not gonna prop him up. Peace and blessings to all of my black american brothers and sisters in america who is fighting the american government who is trying to genocide, ethonocide and erase are people and any of the diapora who supports us.

Yes my sister is in UK but she takes care of her family
I find anyone who subscribes to acronyms sad.why do y'all like living in "boxes"?
What kind of American women did you guys have? Because that's a lot from the pit of Hell.
