    Along with gum arabic, other mediums to consider trying is egg yolk or milk; they are among the earliest mediums used. Along with rocks for pigment, try using plant and animal parts, too. Lastly, natural pigment usually change hue or chroma from sun exposure, so display the art, and store the paints, somewhere without direct sunlight.

    • @morgan0
      @morgan0 9 months ago +4

      oh or you could react copper, iron, and other metals which could probably make a fine precipitate. for iron i think you’d want it reduced not oxidized, oxidized would be more of the same colors, tho perhaps more vibrant, while reduced can be dull blue, green, or gray. copper could give a more vibrant blue or green when oxidized.

    I'm an artist, and after struggling to find the colors I wanted of metallic paint I wanted, I started making making my own paint too. I used mica pigments I found on Amazon, but a part of me really wants to go hunt for rocks and other materials and make it truly from scratch.
    Il have a painting posted to my ytshorts this upcoming week that used the first paint I made, and when I'm done the next one on my docket, every flower will be painted with a variation of pink pants I've already made. I'm just struggling a little with my other materials or it would be further along...
    (Shhhhh I've not told anyone but the "paper" I'm using for the petals is literally just very thin sheets of literal wood; if only it weren't so darn brittle!)
    Great video, and if you want to try it again, perhaps a finger mesh and I found my muller on Amazon for like $10 CAD. I'd wait for the tariff bs to die down before bothering though. Nothing will be under a bajillion dollars until that happens. Sorry, from a friend from the north!

    Hi Conor! You could use various acids to process minerals. Also, many of them change color when calcined at high temperatures.
    Another way is to add salts of various metals.
    Such methods are used in the preparation of paints for the restoration of old icons (16th-17th century).
    To obtain a finer fraction of paint, pour water over the powder and wait until it settles. This process is called "sedimentation" or settling

    • @samwise9587
      @samwise9587 10 months ago +1

      @AndreyShadrln is the sedimentation done with cheese cloth over a container?

    • @stasi0238
      @stasi0238 10 months ago

      @simonterre4583the finer fraction is top, the denser more gritty is down. You can choose which to use but the process usually is done to get the finer one

      if its not that then it might actually be a weak tornado
