      +Edan Coll almost 9k likes and 56 thumbs down now, if someone thumbs down on video like this it must be by someone that doesn't enjoy woodworking, and they think a thumbs downing will stop other woodworking videos to pop up in their feed. too bad it doesn't work like that though!

    9:21 For anyone curious, this is basically how vernier scales work. When you have 2 scales that move past each other, one with marks X units apart and the other with marks Y units apart, you can measure in increments of |X-Y| units. E.g., with one scale marked every 10mm and the other every 9mm, you can measure increments of 1mm.

    One of your best build videos to date. And over 15 minutes? It's like Christmas in November! Seriously this was a great build video. I know people have been asking for this one for quite some time. Also the table turned out awesome. Love the knobs and the attention to detail and that was some very nice pallet wood. Thanks.

    Reminds me of those 70s flexible furnitures for children (when the baby grew up one just move the chair or table up a few pinholes) that where around where i live back in time, those concepts also came in sets for office use for all ages for everyone, genius idea this!
    I love that You transform this into a modern set of furniture that still has the concept of flexibility but this time also looking good...

    Hi Matthias, nice woodworking! I was wondering don't you want to lock the wheels to prevent the table from rolling away as you would inevitably apply forces on the table while you are working on it?

    You are a master wood worker, I wish I had the patience, time, and space to have a shop. To everyone saying they wish they could do what he does, not to discredit him at all, he's really good, most people could make what he makes, aside from the the home made power tools, take a class either at your local home depot/menards, community college, or just watching him and others on youtube or instructibles is a good source too. Your creations may not be as pretty but they could be as functional, and may take a lot more tries or time.

    • @matthiaswandel
      @matthiaswandel  9 лет назад +7

      +LoneWolf8773 If you were to sell stuff like this, you would want to start with small batches and more local. Kickstarter makes absolutely no sense for hand made furniture.

      +Matthias Wandel - Ikea engineers are probably all over it!

    • @ZoeBios121
      @ZoeBios121 9 лет назад

      +Matthias Wandel Why not? Kickstarter lets you have multiple options and set limits on them; you could simply have the lower unlimited tiers be things like a very comprehensive instruction tutorial and plans and such and then a limited top tier where you commit to a *max* of making as many or as few as you like. It doesn't get funded (be sure to do the math), everyone walks away, no feelings hurt. It gets funded, you make as many as you specified via limit. I definitely think local and few has its place but given you've released this online and have fans of varying levels all over the globe, something smart and limited online seems to make sense. I think if you are up front with shipping costs, people will still go for it. Please correct me if I'm missing something.
