Mahindra XUV700 which changed the brand image for mahindra nears its three-year anniversary in the Indian market,
Right from the beginning where it has experienced immense demand and long waiting periods, the manufacturer has announced celebratory discounts of over Rs 2 lakhs.
The biggest news here is it not the benefits worth 2L.it is a direct price cut which means there could be more than 3L difference in onroad
Effective from today, these discounts will be available temporarily for four months. Recently, Mahindra celebrated the production of the 200,000th unit of the model, just three years after its debut.
Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Wednesday fell sharply after the carmaker decided a price cut for certain XUV700 variants. Today, the stock tumbled 7.79 per cent to hit a day low of Rs 2,697.80. It was last seen trading 6.60 per cent lower at Rs 2,732.70. At this price, the script was up 60.50 per cent in 2024 so far despite today's sharp drop.
The prices of the top-spec AX7 and AX7 L variants have been slashed by up to Rs 2.20 lakh.
The petrol-powered AX7 prices range from Rs 19.49 lakh to Rs 21.19 lakh, while AX7 L prices range from Rs 23.49 lakh to Rs 23.69 lakh.
The diesel-powered AX7 prices range from Rs 19.99 to Rs 22.80 lakh, while AX7 L prices range from Rs 22.49 to Rs 24.99 lakh.
The Mahindra XUV 700 gets a 2-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine option.
The difference between petrol and diesel variant is just 50000 which makes it extremely value for money compared to other manufacturer in the segment.
We kickstarted this effort with the launch of the AX5 select variant in May 2024 and have also brought in a 3rd anniversary celebration variant for the higher-end XUV700 for a limited period of 4 months. These well-deliberated actions were incorporated in our annual business plan basis the material cost savings realised earlier and hence we do not expect any material impact on our financials," Mahindra added.
Mahindra also highlighted that the XUV700 demand continues to be robust and has increased its manufacturing capacity.
"Our new XUV700 bookings in June were 23% higher than in May and there is no concern of unsold inventory as reported by certain news channels/newspapers.
We firmly believe that hybrid is an interim and costly solution. And, we have the readiness to offer high-quality products for all solutions that our consumers desire," it mentioned.
News coming out from UP says that there is no tax for hybrid vehicles which is same as EV results in price cut of 3L for cars like innova hycross.
It is rumoured it will be implemented all over india and the major sales volume of xuv700 is in that range

Tata Motors has announced a new ‘King of SUVs’ festival under which the automaker is offering special prices and discounts across its range of SUVs. It is to be noted that all the celebratory offers are valid for bookings made up to 31 July.
The Tata Harrier and the Safari, the flagship offerings from the brand, are available with reduced prices applicable with immediate effect. The Harrier and the Safari can now be had at a starting price tag of Rs. 14.99 lakh and Rs. 15.49 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom), respectively. This effectively means that both cars are now affordable by Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 70,000, respectively.
Additionally, both, the Safari and the Harrier are now available with discounts of up to Rs. 1.4 lakh, applicable to select popular variants. Simultaneously, the Nexon EV gets a discount of up to Rs. 1.3 lakh, while the Punch is offered with benefits of up to Rs. 30,000.
I think customers are not willing to buy top variants and they are feeling many features are useless to them. Any one has any thoughts on this?

Cars on road price is inclusive of 40-50% tax (RTO, GST, Cess). Plus we need to afford insurance and toll gate charges. Indian govt need to consider reducing such a high burden to own car. And Hybrid cars should be zero taxed all over India.
We are paying 28% of GST on motor vehicles irrespective of 2 wheelers/4 wheelers. Despite of GST on vehicle we are again pushed to pay 18% on Insurance.
Go by common transportation.

EV are not suitable for Indian climates. Our road conditions doesn't fit for EV.
