The circuit diagram shows the black probe connected to the junction of 1k resistor and 10k resistor whereas, the actual circuit shows 10k is connected across base and emitter. But in either case 10k is doing nothing. The circuit should work without 10k.
BTW, your handwriting is very nice.

It's used to check continuity. How to check for short. Even if a capacitor is short it will show continuity. Buzzer sounds. Red light indicates. Then how to find differentiate short and continuity. What is the function of Green LED? You have not explained the function of Green LED.Better to give improved verson of this circuit in your next episode.
