MARIO?? NUMBER ONE !!! UNICO NESSUNO FIN D'ORA E' RIUSCITO AD AVVICINARSI A LUI........E OLTRE TUTTO BELLO!!! HO AVUTO L'OCCASIONE DI CONOSCERLO PERSONALMENTE....CHE DIRE?????? NON CI SONO PAROLE....COMUNQUE GRANDE LATIN LOVER.....
Because Lanza sings it with a joy of very young man while both Monaco and Corelli as matured men. Otherwise Mario del Monaco, Mario Lanza and Franco Corelli are probably the best performers of Granada.
I cannot agree more to you Imogenn. you are darn right. It is NOT only the high notes that counts (although Domingo has also a unique beautiful high notes) but the very essence of the song. I believe it is called phasing & expression. Ialso find the phasing of the young tenor Vittorio Grigolo of Italy very appealing and sincere because he sings from the heart. Check him out sometime. Domingo made him the principal tenor of the Washington Opera.
He had the voice of a soldier, but perfect only to dramatic renditions I believe. His performances always left you with the urge to pick up your sword and go to battle :-))))
There is no bigger or more ardent Lanza fan than i ddzz37 and Lanza sang with more passion and expression than any-one and had he gone solely into Opera he WOULD have been the Best . How-ever this particular piece i believe Franco Corelli, despite his horrid diction beats out Mario as the best recording of Granada . Corelli is just over the top awesome and then takes a High C# at the end that is glass-shattering. It's not often some-one could out do Mario Lanza but this time it was Corelli.
Mario Lanza owns this Plus he sings it HIGHER as much as I love MDM Lanza much much better in this, also I heard Corelli sing some Lanza staples and comes off second best as well .
Big-bodied sound, perhaps too heavy for this repertoire, but with excellent Spanish diction and very true to the original (Lara's) musical values. People who heard him live say this was HUGE wall of sound full or squillo with plangent tone. Corelli's Granada, on the other hand is a disaster in style and diction, but that sound! I am a Corelli nut who met and heard him live, but he recorded this song for $, not for art.
Right. So let's face off publicly. If you are so right and know your stuff then let's do it. I can face my enemies, but usually they like to cower in the corner and lie.
Of course, how can any-one disagree that singing the entire aria and or the Opera with expression and beauty as far superior to just the High notes sung well. Am i to believe that Corelli or Lanza didn't sing with expression ,beauty and finesse? They were both unequaled when it came to expressive singing. My point is Domingo is a great artist and a beautiful singer but not to be rated with the truly great tenors such as Corelli, MDM, Tucker, Distefano and Lanza who he greatly admired...
Domingo being of Spanish heritage should sing better Spanish than both Mario's and Corelli. Unfortunately Domingo never had the top notes that make a stellar top tier Tenor , he's a pushed up baritone and could never be in the same league as MDM, Lanza or Corelli. As Pavarotti once said "It's Crazy , a tenor can sing beautiful the whole night but let him miss 1 high note and he will be booed and out of the whole performance that's what the tenor will be remembered for"
No one has any recordings of my singing. I do have a recent recording that I will post in the near future. Anyone who claims to impersonate a recording of me will have legal action taken against them.
Imogenn; I'm Italian but i am totally unbiased, i thought Tucker and Bjorling were about as good as any tenor could be . Referring to your point here it is well taken and any -one would have to agree that Domingo being Spanish would have a much better grasp and knowledge of Spanish music... that i agree with you, but i thought we were talking about pure vocal talent and that i disagree with you that Domingo was better than Corelli,MDM or Lanza.

Saludos.
What personal reasons might that be? I said you were right, but that does not give you the right to be rude. I was unfriendly but I apologized at least.
I could post them publicly. But if you had any decency you would admit to what you have said and threatened. Talk about no balls. You can only type at your little computer.
That must be it. ROFL! Please, FrancescA, can you post some of your students or your teacher or your own singing? That would surely prove us all wrong. Did you teach Olivero? Or do you just pop CD's into your player and read some books and act like some kind of expert on singing? ROFL!! So sad.
I really don't like Del Monaco singing this at all. I mean, yeah he was a super voice and talent, but it is pressed and crass. I really prefer Wunderlich or Corelli in this.
A good choice for this very confident powerful tenor voice.

Lanza's version will always be my favourite, nothing can touch it. This is very, very good though from one of the very best
Because Lanza sings it with a joy of very young man while both Monaco and Corelli as matured men. Otherwise Mario del Monaco, Mario Lanza and Franco Corelli are probably the best performers of Granada.

Madonna di Dio, qui vengono giù i muri...
Mario, come te nessuno mai...
Mario del Monaco, Mario Lanza and Franco Corelli are probably the best performers of Granada.
DON'T FORGET CLAUDIO VILLA, PER FAVORE. UN SALUTO DA ROMA ANTONIO
Yes, but I prefer more forceful performances. Also Claudio was not trained as opera singer and his voice is very soft, although beautiful.
Have a listen to Franz Wunderlich singing Granada. It's right up there with the best of them.
@@cooloox Fritz...
Mario Lanza Numero Uno.

Good ears.

Jajajaja pobre
Nobody beats Lanza
mario per sempre!
sono d'accordissimo
Could you explain why Lanza, Corelli and Tucker are greater singers than Domingo??? Thanks.
Mario Lanza owns this Plus he sings it HIGHER as much as I love MDM Lanza much much better in this, also I heard Corelli sing some Lanza staples and comes off second best as well .
Luifernal jajajajjajaja
Mario Lanza was great here - only problem Lanza said "flor de malinconia" in italian, when it is "flor de melancolia" in Spanish
Awesome!!!! /agree with ronaldo Lanza's a hair better both great!!!
ROFL! Oh, I see. That explains it. And what do you sing? What singers have you developed? And who developed your acoustical knowledge?
Big-bodied sound, perhaps too heavy for this repertoire, but with excellent Spanish diction and very true to the original (Lara's) musical values. People who heard him live say this was HUGE wall of sound full or squillo with plangent tone. Corelli's Granada, on the other hand is a disaster in style and diction, but that sound! At last, a sensible comment. Rare thing on YT indeed!
If he has courage, he will post his voice on his channel.
Right. So let's face off publicly. If you are so right and know your stuff then let's do it. I can face my enemies, but usually they like to cower in the corner and lie.
And you would make such a statement based on what exactly?
Having too much to drink Frank? You are mistyping. RUclips doesn't own the video either. RAI does. Hence the big RAI logo in the corner.

Ok
Maybe I should just report the video to RAI and youtube. There must be a copyright.....
Mario Lanza, the best

Wow, I forgot this, thanks for reminding me. No, I was nasty. It has personal reasons, please don't bother. :)
There is only one word for Silver/Monsterbaritone/Mr.Cafiero

the bestest version is from Jorge Negrete
How about we debate publicly and sing publicly. You vs. me? You up for it?
INDIMENTICABILE...NON CE NE UGUALE
You know very well to which Silver I am referring. Don't play stupid with me.
You are the guy singing on your profile, and you come here and want to teach people about Melocchi!?!?!? Hahahaha, this is the best joke of the year.
The great Melocchi's technique, yeah. Pull larynx down, keep it there with muscular constriction and shout as loud as you can. Great, great art.
Lanza!
!Claro Lanza!

The funny thing is that he admits all the time that he has stolen the video... really, he must have a brain like a hamster.
I could post them publicly. But if you had any decency you would admit to what you have said and threatened. Talk about no balls. You can only type at your little computer.
Afro is right. You have no clue. I wonder why you did not include LoMonaco, Stanley and Silver in your list of great singers... Hadley, another joke!
I do not know why you all discussed with Afro Poli. He's just a crappy microbe, nothing else.
How can someone steal something that someone else doesn't even own? Do you have a brain?
That must be it. ROFL! Please, FrancescA, can you post some of your students or your teacher or your own singing? That would surely prove us all wrong. Did you teach Olivero? Or do you just pop CD's into your player and read some books and act like some kind of expert on singing? ROFL!! So sad.
Listen better Lanza! He doesn't sing "malinconia" but "malincolia".
Mr. Cafiero is an Internet thief.
