How fortunate for your daughter to have a mother who is such a wonderful cook. How sweet of you to cook the broccolini for her! I love this recipe and I have only had broccolini once and this sounds and looks delicious! Thank you Julia!
I’m in Germany where it’s called wild broccoli. I’ve yet to see it, but am told it is sold at farmer’s markets. I’ll keep looking & perhaps try growing my own next year. In the meantime, thank you for a simple way to cook up fresh green beans. 😊
My favorite vegetable, too! I prep and steam it much as you do, except leave out the red pepper and then add soy sauce and toasted sesame oil…delicious! One of my friends also follows the same, but will chat his broccolini on the grill and drizzle with balsamic glaze when serving 👍
My Father would say "you're not making it, you're cooking it" 😂 miss him so much. Julia, you keep giving me so many ideas. I have yet to see broccolini in our stores however.
Isn’t “broccolini” a trademark term for one particular company? I see the same cross-breed of broccoli and gai lan marketed as “baby broccoli”, “aspiration”, and “broccolette” in various markets, and the given explanation is that the name “broccolini” is a trademark.
Why was broccolini "created" when we have broccoli? Just curious, because usually when something new comes along, it's a hybrid, seedless or something very noticeable... And if it's the thinner stalks, I'm disappointed. She still had to cut some stalks for even cooking. You can do that with broccoli too. Take good care, all!😊
This is crazy! I bought broccolini over the weekend and I'm sitting here wondering how I want to cook it for lunch and video pops up! Do this today! ❤

I always add a bit of fresh lemon juice . . . Perfection ... with the cheese ....

Yummy. Thanks Julia. Broccolini has been difficult for me to cook. Well not anymore. So thanks for this flavorful simple recipe!
Great tips! Love the detail added here.
Thank you, Julia!
Yay! Love it! Thanks Girl! Always love you!
WHOA!!! Add garlic?! Who would have ever thought?!
Just a simple weeknight dish, but soooo tasty!

One more thing completes the olive oil + garlic + pepper flake combo: a bit of anchovy paste. It just makes the combo so much more umami.
There's a ton of anchovies in the halibut puttanesca entree Julia made to go with the broccolini
👌🏾Looks so delicious!😋
Using garlic, bacon and cheese, you could fry driveway gravel and make it palatable. This is no secret.
Now I know what to use my Lowe's gift card for!

This is great. I used to always steam it in my steamer basket, but was never able to gauge the time.
Looks great thank you for sharing
Oh that looks delicious and even I might be able to do it. 😊

The store I shop at tends to put it with the rapini and other greens like chard rather than with the broccoli where you might expect it to be.
Funny I do the same way and I also love broccolini.
i think you are amazig=ng, what a great trick, steam and stir fry!! gamechanger!
What about steaming with white wine or chicken stock to up the flavor?
I use about 10 cloves garlic, lemon at the end.😎
love that lid but not the knob
Healthier to steam
Wow, surely this is new to the culinary world.

Broccolini is a cross between broccoli and Chinese broccoli

Broccolini can be very easy to choke on for some people, myself included.
Are you saying that garlic actually adds flavour?
Just steam it. Do not drain vitamins and lose taste by boiling veg in water.
Microwave is the best
She IS steaming it, did you watch the video?

At first glance, I thought you were Rosie O'Donnell.
That is an amazingly harsh insult.
Oh have mercy! Not even close-- not even without my glasses!
