If you planted tubers, it takes them at least two weeks to poke out any the ground at which point they could freeze but by then you’ll be in mid-April. Planting too early also runs the risk of tubers rotting in the ground from cold and damp soil.
Most dahlias are 18 inches between plants. 36 inch beds with two rows of plants in each bed. Seedlings I grow 12 inches apart. Giants I plant 24 inches apart.

@@singingmeadowsfarm ,Yes, they rotted last month. It rained all May and June. They sprouted late May .
Next time start them inside the house,put them outside when the soil warms up, I did mine on the kitchen floor
