    Awesome tips ✨

    Agree with the Cad direction and renderings, not necessarily the particular software, but that is subjective and both Keyshot and Solidworks are great, personally I use Rhino and Keyshot, but seen a huge move in the creative field to Blender.

      Yep. 3D program certainly depends on a few factors. One would be what you like to use personally to build your ideas. The other is what your company prefers you to use. I certainly have an interest in learning Rhino however the benefits of Solidworks is that Mechanical Engineers use it as well. This allowing for the Designer and Engineer to work on the same 3D file.

      Blender skews more towards 3d animation. The modelling would be good for graphics, and 3d printing but would be tricky to segway into production.

      @@seanpchristy 100% agree! I also think it's valuable to add that by focusing heavily on 3D you'll often pigeonhole yourself to that part of the design process and people might come to you for just that instead of the whole package. It's all subjective I guess, and what direction you want your industrial design career to go.

      @@JimmyHuynhdesign 100% agree! Solidworks is great, and definitely makes it more seamless for co-labs with engineers etc. Personally, with a lot of the companies I have worked with the production teams in China are perfectly fine with Rhino files and they tend to want to create their own CAD files for production anyways (that will always be reviewed). Definitely cuts down any issues if both parties are able to work on the same file, and if your design is flawless before sending it for production that is always a plus.

    Well said 🤗🤗
    I'm a mechatronics engineering student, but find interest in Industrial Designing,
    Tend to see many people in the creative space using blender, and it seems blender is a lot simpler to create complex organic shapes, but solidworks gets the precision

    Raise your hand if you use CAD at work XD
    I am so happy my company uses Solidworks and Keyshot

    Jimmy, are you a Solidworks Champion? If you’re not, you should be. And you’re right, having a program in your background like Solidworks is a very good step. Also, everyone should be a member of a local Solidworks user group.

      Hey! Yeah i am but i dont really participate much. What value have you received so far? Maybe i'll consider participating more.

      @@JimmyHuynhdesign I’m not, I’m just a Solidworks User Group President and a member of the SWUGN board. I’d suggest to participate more and perhaps get invited to speak at 3DExperience World

      @@ctsugusergroup1397 Whats really the benefit of SWUGN over an online group like Facebook or Reddit?

    • @ctsugusergroup1397
      @ctsugusergroup1397 2 года назад

      @@seanpchristy well for starters, you get to attend live events local to your area and watch others who use SW on a daily basis. Food is usually provided, it doesn’t long to attend and you meet these other users. Great networking for sure.
