This is an eargasm it builds and builds and then tickles and you gotta hear it again and again.. These recordings saved my life during a shitty part eg D I V O R C E it was fugly but Id just crank these recordings and drift somewhere else then misery.. RIP T LAVITZ who was really kind to me upon meeting him with the Dreggs and Billy Cobham I saw at a clinic and it was so amazing im not a drummer but that dont matter this was in Austin and there was this guy just mumbling to himself the entire time next to me oh god oh no oh please dont pick me oh no oh god and then he raises his hand and asks Cobham this great question and Billy calls him up why dont you come up to the stage please and instead of you sitting at the 2nd kit for students you sit at mine.. Cobham got on the smaller kit and demonstrated the idea to answer the question and taught the guy right on stage how to do it.. he said no no do this then that and like this and the dude got it and I saw the light go off in his head.. And just think 10 min before or more he was afraid to speak or petrified in his seat talking himself into asking the question and Billy let him drive his set ! I still have a signed drum head from that cause I never forgot how amazing that was and the guy was on cloud 9 for having the balls to get up with BC and Cobham talked him right into it it was beautiful .
These guys have such an awesome take on The Grateful Dead! They kill it. Everyone in the band can totally hold it down, keyboards, guitar, bass, and drummer all very talented.
Mix a bit of Weather Report (Alphonso Johnson), another from Aquarium Rescue Unit (Jimmy Herring), a pinch of Dixie Dregs (T Lavitz) and another from Mahavishnu Orchestra (Billy Cobham) and ready, we have a delicious mix of great Ingredient: Good music!

Interesting to note that T Lavitz auditioned to replace Brent in 1990.
Thanks for the tidbit! I hadn't known, that is interesting. He's a great player, I think it woulda worked too just fine!
