I had a couple of drinks with Keith while the two of us were waiting for connecting flights at Heathrow in spring 2008. A very nice gentleman, soft spoken and friendly at heart. Two hours went by in a blink. The ultimate story teller and an inspirational cook. Cheers Keith!
I think Floyd understood happiness better than the other celebrity chefs - he knew that you need a lot of wine in a stew, you need to flame with brandy, he knew how to use truffles, he understood the importance of the people/place/history of a dish - he just went that extra mile to go nearer the culinary 'sun'
This brought a lot of memories of me and my Dad back. We used to watch this guy cook all the time, and i haven't seen Keith Floyd cook in about 20 years! All came flooding back
I grew up watching Keith Floyd. He made cooking so much fun. It was all about his love of eating and exploring. He really took the cooking out of the kitchen to the outside world. I felt as I were travelling with him. Many thanks.
It breaks my heart seeing Keith and hearing his 'tired' voice in this episode,,,,!!! But the Maestro still comes shining through never the less,,,,!!! Keith Floyd will never be replaced nor be outshone by the 'so-called' new celebrity chefs that currently litter the TV screen,,,,!!! Whoever you are cooking for up there Keith, they are all in the best of culinary hands,,,,!!!
The best TV chef by a country mile. Some modern chefs may be come across a having good technical skills, but Keith was a genius and in a league of his own. Most of the best TV chefs today confirm Keith was their inspiration.
I've been on Floyd revision and it's so refreshing to see his skill, not just cooking, but his command of the English language and humour. He has been immortalised.
@@ryand141 Glad to hear it my friend. I’ve rediscovered Floyd in the last year after first watching Floyd on France as a child. He is wonderful and has created a whole movement for better food and good times shared. See you around 🍷 😊
R.I.P Keith, you'll be sadly missed. I loved the programs and learned a lot. I'd often sit and watch the shows and then head to the kitchen to cook with a glass of wine of course. There just will never be another cook like Keith Floyd. x
I grew up watching cooking shows, they and American infomercials were my fav' thing. (I know.. but I loved them). Floyd's was def' one of my fav's. I could never really imitate what he was doing, the accessible ingredients to me were nothing like he was using. But I just loved the life, the joy in his show, even as a young child I was just amazed people would eat the stuff he made. Now that I'm (much) older, and I eat (and cook) a lot of the stuff he's made, I feel like a it has come to a full circle.
Thank you so much. I was watching your copy of Julia doing cassoulet and Keith Floyd came up. I loved his show and forgot his name. He taught me to put corks in all my pot lids so a hot pad is never needed.
i've only had a cassoulet once, in Paris. It was amazing. Now I'm looking at lots of videos to learn how to do it in Canada. He made a delicious looking pot of about 10 gallons. I want to crawl into that pot. So sad, just discovered the guy, and it seems he's already passed away.
You were a truely amazing man, chef, human being. You will be dearly missed I have watched your programmes for years I will continue to do so. R.I.P Keith
Thanks for posting Keith Floyd. What an incredible personality as well as cook and teacher. I would love to see more of him. I especially enjoy him when he is tipsy! Very fun. Does anyone out there have any vintage Floyd video? It is impossible to find the old shows.
I'm in Phuket (Thailand) and just found out that he's opened a restaurant here. Booked a table for tomorrow night and really looking forward to trying the food. Mostly, I hope to meet the legend (If he's here)
The toll a lifetime of alcohol abuse takes is absolute incredible, Floyd is an amazing cook and I love everything he has ever been in. That being said. he's only in his late 50's here, perhaps just turned 60. He has the energy and voice of someone 30 years older, still though his incredible personality is still their, love you Floyd, wish you were stil with us.
Ah, the one and only ! He made us interested in fine food and fine wine and was a man we could all look up to. Thank you, Mr Floyd ! If there's a heaven, surely you are there !
I will miss floyd apparently he died in the way that suited him, which is meant in the most respectable way. After eating exquisite seafood and marinading himself with the finest champagne to celebrate the the fact of a new book coming out he suddenly had a heart attack while watching the tv in the chair. From what i heard he had a great night that night and atleast he ended his life on a good note.
Simply the best TV chef ever.... The real deal... He paved the way... unfortunately the modern TV chefs have lost the plot.... Ironic if you think of it... becuase people thought he was mad... he was just himself and he enjoyed life... Having a quick slurp on you old boy....
What a sad loss. We'll miss his colourful cooking and character. Such a great man. Who knows, maybe he'd be cooking something great for us on the other side.... RIP.
@KEITH FLOYD'S FINAL INTERVIEW Oh sod off you miserable nobody. Famous and loved around the globe. You? An embittered troll who smothers all these videos with your vitriolic comments. Just go away and suppurate in your mangy bedsit.
Floyd's been having health scares? Guess we don't hear that sort of news state-side. I, too, hope that's doing well. He's one of the FEW food show hosts/presenters that I was ever able to watch. I actually special-ordered his cookbooks from local bookstores back in the early '90s, before the Internet made that possible from the comfort of home. And now I can watch what I've been missing of Mr. Floyd, here on RUclips. Tres cool. Cheers all.
I’m a proficient home cook. I can confit and I’m comfortable around bean dishes. Our beloved French restaurant closed a few years ago and so I decided to make cassoulet for our thanksgiving here in the US. This video popped up on RUclips and I almost dismissed it with the producer’s Cheesy pie decision to have the chef cook on the pitch. But the love in the comments have forced me to pull up a chair, pour another glass, and learn.
Keith had such a wonderful way of speaking, his own way like poetry really. A lovely gentleman who was a great chef and a genuine man who loved life. Rip
oh man, I'm a Swede but i love Keith. Found his videos in my recomended just a few days ago. The guy looks really sickly here, When was this filmed? i'm guessing close to his death?
form where the hell did you get this "information"? the ingredients for sure were washed before the show. there is no cooking show that starts with "let's wash the tomatos first" LOL! :)
Well said sesamepete! Floyd taught Rick Stein and was the first to hire Jean Christophe Novelli when he came to Britain. Both rate him as one of the best ever...and I think I trust their opinions far more than silly people like 'lovechocolate25'. Floyd is a pioneer. He single-handedly revolutionised attitudes to, and knowledge about, food in Britain (in my opinion ;). It's said he is an absolute nightmare to work with; most geniuses are.
The food in Gordon Ramsay's restaurant is very good if you don't mind waiting for months for a table and spend at least a couple of hundred pounds for a two persons dinner. Delia Smith's recipes are quite good if not the best;very informative. Jamie is ok nothing fancy but simple and still delicious.
Keith Floyd was the best TV cook ever. Charismatic, non PC, and a keen enthusiastic drinker, he makes the rest of them look like a bunch of wimps. Especially that 'mockney' clown Jamie Oliver. I attempted to watch one of Sainsbury's ad man's shows a few months ago in the hope that I wasn't being unfair to "Mr. Beau'iful Pukka". I switched channels after 5 minutes. He must be the most irritating person on TV. Too many second rate TV chefs now, all off the back of the great Keith Floyd.
Bloody hell. Goose fat, chunk bacon, three kinds of sausages, and duck confit? My arteries are screaming in agony just from watching this. (The rest of me, on the other hand, wants to reach right into the monitor for a bite.)
I had a couple of drinks with Keith while the two of us were waiting for connecting flights at Heathrow in spring 2008. A very nice gentleman, soft spoken and friendly at heart. Two hours went by in a blink. The ultimate story teller and an inspirational cook. Cheers Keith!
Yeah ok
@@monkeytennis8861 you OK hun? 😂
He’s ok , just a miserable prick.

Floyd was pure class. No chef today has his passion , wit and charisma. The world lost a *LEGEND* when he left us. 'Nuff said.

Keith Floyd was an absolute rock star, no one could come near him for this style of cooking
Especially Gordon Ramsay.

Wow that pot looks INCREDIBLE. My mouth is watering!! Great chef, R.I.P.
fun to watch and a good chef! appreciate you posting this!
I remember my parents watching this guy when I was a child, he seems to have a good fun personality just by being himself.

The preserved (or confit) duck he uses is one of the most delicious things on earth.
it sounds cheesy but it really was because of him that i got into cooking.....i loved his shows so much, he was real.....rip.
RIP Keith!!
God, he was well and truly pickled here. The state of him..
You OK hun?
R.I.P Great Chef
oh man, I'm a Swede but i love Keith. Found his videos in my recomended just a few days ago. The guy looks really sickly here, When was this filmed? i'm guessing close to his death?
He was a heavy smoker and drinker but I think this was 3 or 4 years before he passed.
RIP :( best chef ever.
RIP Floyd! Love the bit at the end of this clip, he still had a bit of kick left in him!
He looks older here, was this quite recent? Good old Floyd.

@crazycappie french food is awesome.
@smurfieboo
He died at 65, that's not bad, his liver no doubt looks like a ancient relic.
no his liver was unscathed according to one of his last health reports
Just made his Cassoulet, delicious
When did this series air? Completely missed it - thanks for posting, Keith Floyd - The original and the best!
Not sure but looks like one of his later Channel 5 (?) series, mid-2000s I'd guess.
Pete's Pans on youtube is the closest thing to Floyd.
r.i.p floyd.
maybe he cooked the food before they started recording?
form where the hell did you get this "information"?
the ingredients for sure were washed before the show.
there is no cooking show that starts with "let's wash the tomatos first"
LOL! :)
Jesus! He looks close to 65 in this video!

sick of all the chef TV crap now...
