Dan was hired for a job, but he attributed his good fortune to liquor.
After seven months, Dan was promoted and celebrated it with his officemates at the bar, so he failed to join his family for dinner. Dan also invited his friend Edwin to join him for a drink to celebrate, but he declined. Edwin reminded Dan not to drink alcoholic beverages, but Dan ignored him.
Dan developed a drinking problem, which harmed his relationship with his wife and son. He also got fired from his job due to negligence. Dan met Edwin and followed his advice.
