    That was very cool. I always love seeing the technical side of things. I have no experience with studio recording whatsoever, but it's fascinating to me. It's awesome that they're using natural room reverb and an old-school analogue mixer. I guess software can't quite replace everything. :) . A ton of good info here. I think a lot of people have no idea what to expect the first time they record. This was really fun. I'd love more of this kind of thing. Sounds like a great song too. Proper thrash metal! \m/

    This was really insightful. Of course preparation before entering the studio is important to save time and money. It was good to see the use of multiple tracks to improve the stereo image and the use of re-amping (which is quite new to me) and what a difference that makes. Even from the camera you could hear how attention was made to make every instrument heard.
    My only problem with modern recording is that every thing is filled to the max and the number of tracks is huge compared to the past. The worst part for me is the over compressed sound where everything is like a wall of sound and there is no definition. Considering the technology available now, there is really no excuse for a badly mixed album, but you need the right people who understand how the various sounds interplay.

  • @sarahkaroline1550
    @sarahkaroline1550 Год назад +4

    RUclips recommended some sound engineering videos to me last summer and i ended up spending hours watching another 20. I haven't been into a studio and I'm not about to enter one, but learning about the process of recording music fascinates me, particularly the history of how sound recording has changed since it first came about. I, too, was surprised to see some physical amplifiers and the inline-mixing board (if this is what it's called, ?) because the YT videos looked more like a flightdeck than a studio :D // If this becomes part of a series, short or long, I'd be really interested in it. // I also liked the song we heard at the end!

    Really great video Jassy!! I like this format A LOT! For people wanting to get their stuff recorded for the first time there are some really good points of advice given in this video! The number one tip of course is the obvious "know your parts" one, because studio time is a big investment money wise. For guitarists entering the studio I'd say: Always put on some fresh strings and if you use actives replace your battery. And ASK QUESTIONS when you're not an experienced recording musician. I learned so much about recording techniques, mic placement, different speaker/mic characteristics and so on just by asking questions and being interested in the subject. And 9 out of 10 engineers will get a sparkle in their eyes just because someone is willing to learn something about their expertise🙂. And above all, don't forget to HAVE FUN. Although recording can be very frustrating sometimes, it is also a very fun thing to do😇. I'm now off to try the Michael Schenker wah trick😜🤘.

      @@WARDRESS_METAL Of course I did🤘🔥! I will suck up every bit of knowledge I can get when it comes to recording/mixing since it has interested me for a very long time! I even thought about getting a bachelors degree in music production about 10 years ago, but was talked off it by some people from inside the business that told me there was almost no chance to make a living from it (sadly). So I became a chemist instead😅. In my spare time I do have the opportunity to be active in recording a bit, since a friend of mine owns a small studio where he records smaller bands and asks me for checking out/tweaking/re-amp some recordings together from which I learn a lot.
