@@jadh9101it didn’t make sense because although the bottom 3 have lowest points for a bottom 3 in a while but top 5/6 closest it’s been in a while. He’s judging quality of league based on the relegation battle and not the top 4 or title race

Last year was a great league because a lot of teams were not great, like Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool struggled, United struggled and then turned up second half of the year. This year the top 10 will be more competitive and tight and the bottom will be worse but I don’t think the league has fallen off like tego is saying.

Tego's got it the wrong way round. The standards in the prem are high, so teams coming up are struggling. The top 10 is very competitive, clubs like villa, brighton, newcastle and westham can compete with the classic top 6 and fight for europe
The players of today are way lower quality than the 2000s to early 2010s though, that’s the point of this

The fact that the lads have zero idea of the effects of collective fatigue or have even the slightest comprehension of how a sudden increase in your workload directly impacts your physical and mental health is insane considering how loudly their shooting down every opinion that isn't their own.
These are major reasons that also directly correlate to why the level of the league so far has been hampered. Naturally the barometer of the best within an already small sample size when talking about what separates the best from the rest in an elite sporting environment is tiny, but when that top echelon and then the majority of the next tier underneath them is also effected/sidelined from injury, you can't expect the quality of the product to be the same. Spec's point of players falling off (law of diminishing return) is a minute consequence and effects very few players, yet he's trying to argue the point like it is the only reason.
The fact is, we're talking about high level athletes. To use an analogy, PL players are akin to a whole squad of Ferraris - highly strung, finely tuned and developed to perform at peak performance its whole "lifespan." When you add more mileage than it can handle for extended periods of time, it's bound to take its toll, at a more rapid, constant and more consistent rate, and for longer periods. This is a fact.

At this stage you can't predict at all who might win the league. Top 4-6 don't have a lot of point difference them. How is that not good for the league?
1. Mid table teams don’t fear the top 5 teams anymore. No one fears United, Liverpool, City, and Chelsea or Spurs. Everyone believes they are beatable.
2. The quality of players around the world has dropped I believe as well. Not necessarily dropped but there isn’t world class players like we had in the past 10 years. Our expectations for players is High
3. No goals are being scored in the league. There is a Striker drought.
Quality has increased, as it always does. Just the difference between the top and the rest has decreased.
