(Note: Hemisphere is alternate firmware for Ornament and Crime)
Hemisphere is a dual-channel applet framework for Ornament and Crime. It splits the screen and controls of O_C down the middle, allowing development of simpler O_C applets with 2 digital ins, 2 CV ins, 2 CV outs, and one encoder/button. Hemisphere allows CV forwarding from the left hemisphere to the right, and each app has an instant help screen to help you remember what everything does.
You are a genius. Hemispheres is simple to use and continues to be a staple of my modular system. Thank you so much for giving this to the world.
this looks a lot more to my taste than the stock firmware, was really struggling with the workflow, will give it a go. Thanks for the hard work!
Awesome work, allready running on my o+c. Thanks a lot!
Peater Repeater thanks for trying it out!
Gonna give this a try over the weekend. It seems to make more sense for my mini o_c due to the layout of the buttons.
Perhaps someone in these comments can help me. I ended up installing Hemisphere Suite and it's safe to say that it suits my needs more than the original firmware.
I just have an issue with the display - for instance, the skewed LFO has a horizontal line across it. Has anyone got any ideas what may have caused that?
Fantastic work, mate!
Hi I have another question I'm hoping you can help me with. I go into the ornament and crime and I hold down the right button for a few seconds and I do see the internal clock it has the BPM on the bottom and it defaults to forward on the top but no matter what I do I can't activate the clock cuz when you come out of yours you can see the sequence starting with my nothing happens is there anything I have to do to get the clock to start generating a pulse?
Once you've set the clock to Internal, hold down the left encoder for two seconds. When you release it, the metronome icon will start ticking back and forth, and the internal clock is running. Stop the internal clock the same way.
@@chysn ohhhh,,,mann,, how come i didn't see that...Wow,, now i really like this O_c...wow,,,now i can play 2 shift registers at the same time in 2 different VCO's ...now that opens up a whole new world for me..Thanks a lot...Appreciate your support
@@rhampton1914 Sure thing, glad you're enjoying it
This is excellent!
Once you add a quantizer applet I am so switching to this!
There's no need to "switch." Hemisphere runs as an app alongside O_C's current firmware, rather than replacing it. And I'll probably have the dual quantizer app finished this week. Thanks for watching!
so we will be able to use one side as a quantizer and the other as LFO??
Jon Charnis Yep! Much, much simpler versions of both, though. So far it’s got LFO, ADSR, 5 step sequencer, dual quantizer, probability brancher, sample and hold, dual logic, comparison arithmetic, DC VCA, switch, threshold logic neuron, and... something I’m forgetting at the moment.
Thats all I ever wanted XD
Oh, yeah, clock divider/multiplier was the one I was forgetting.
This is amazing thank you
really, really cool! this makes me want an o_c even more
Looking at the menu in the first six seconds, you have Hemisphere within the "stock" firmware, correct? All I can find on the internet is the Suite, which eliminates the original firmware. How did you get it to add to the original firmware? Is there a hexfile still in existence that does that implementation?
An early proof-of-concept was done alongside the Ornament and Crime applications. Hemisphere Suite is a complete replacement.
@@chysn Thanks. I was really hoping the option to have both existed. Have to buy another O_C I guess. LOL
Any help ? I try to install it (looks awesome) but when I push the button on the back of the o_c it turns black and the app on the computer stay "offline" 🤔 I tried 3 differents usb cables. I am on Mac High Sierra. Thanks for your help !
With the module connected to the computer, open Teensy Loader, then go to the File menu and select Open Hex File... Choose the downloaded hex file in the file selector and click Open. The name of the file should appear at the bottom of the Teensy Loader window. Now press the button on the O_C, and the Teensy Loader should show a Programming progress bar. Then your O_C should reboot.
Beige Maze yes like you said on the instructions :) but when I push on the button on the back of the o_c it turns black and the teensy loader stay offline :-/ I changed 3 times the usb cable just to be sure.. Have you ever seen this "error" ?
No, I haven't. I'm running High Sierra as well, and it should just work. It sounds like the loader isn't recognizing the Teensy for some reason.
Beige Maze thank you, I will put my glasses and my lab coat on and find a way !
great work!
when will it be available?
Public beta is available as of this morning at www.beigemaze.com/hemisphere.html
