I did body wash in my beard and a bad store bought beard butter for a long time before finding Dan C. Afterward, I adjusted to proper beard washes and conditioners, quality oils and nourishing higher quality butter in the evening. Being that I adjusted all products at once, I don't know for sure how big of a change any one product produced, however, the change to the right products and processes over all, using Dan C's advice, 100% was a total game changer in how my beard looks and feels. I could never imagine going back and I fully recommend anyone with a beard going all out with beard care. It's a total game changer. From the moment i could grow a beard, i've always grown beards, goaties, chops, you name it, but I truly feel like i only just discovered my beard this year after giving it what it needs and letting it grow the right way.

@@DanCBearded it’s a commitment. At a certain length it becomes somewhat of a lifestyle. 2 years and I’m still not at 8 inches. I finally have a routine down I get consistent styling and I wear it out now with no styling at all when. Working in heat. With that I’ve become way less conscious of how it’s sitting all the time. Has finally got me almost to 8 and not looking to trim anytime soon. Got past 6 a couple times but would go back down to 6. First transparency, then knit picking, now finally embracing 100%.

Epic video dan! It's not very common knowledge that beard hair and scalp hair act differently! You hit the nail on the head, not all "hair"
behaves the same depending on where it's located on the body, especially considering what kind of skin it's attached to and how that skin behaves (oily, dry, etc). We're grateful that you're spreading the knowledge!

I was someone who used a shampoo for my hair and beard. I can definitely say, using a quality beard wash does in fact make a difference. I have dense, curly/wavy textured hair and it was night and day after a few days of doing that. YMMV, but for me I also use a leave-in conditioner after washing and after using a beard oil and my beard looks and feels a thousand times better. I opted for Copper John's oil, butter and wash and look forward to trying some other brands. Appreciate all the knowledge you share with us!

Thanks for the vid! I have tried 2 different beard-specific beard-wash and conditioners from apparently good brands and did not like it too much, left the beard feeling brittle and not good. One brand was Every Man Jack, did not like that one. Other one was Viking, that was a little better. I used the high-end shampoo & conditioner my wife uses and it actually left my beard better, softer etc. That's kind of backwards? Maybe I just need to try a better beard wash/conditioner but there's SO many brands, I don't know which. They're not cheap so I don't wanna keep buying 'em in a long chain of trial n error trials.

A few years later they started to allow beards (no more than two inches long). Then COVID started and I grew beneath my mask like a stealth marijuana garden patch! I think when you really research it and start to see the good quality beard washes and what they use then maybe you could pick up certain head hair washes and look over the ingredients and make a decision. I've used certain beard washes that did not make my beard feel good and I've used certain head hair shampoos that felt fine. Like the shea moisture line some of their head hair shampoos I would say it would be fine in the beard but some are not... But why not use a good quality beard wash if you have it I have at least three so I like to use them but sometimes I will experiment with something else. Baby shampoo I suppose you can't go wrong with that if you want to use it the last one I tried was baby magic works just fine.

People should really do their own research if they are interested in a product. Do some research on the ingredients.. see if the ingredients are beneficial for the skin and hair, or if there are any that are harmful. Reach out to the manufacturer.. ask questions and get as much info as you can get. Just because a product doesn't say "beard" on it.. doesn't mean that it is not good for the face and beard. And just because it does say "beard" on it.. doesn't mean that it is good.
    My two pennies of course.
