The reason for the beef blowing up all of a sudden is because of a sub diss MGK shot at eminem on a feature track with Tech N9ne earlier in the year, which is why eminem responded. It all stemmed from that 2012 tweet but not much had really been said until that initial diss.

To my understanding this started when mgk said on Twitter years ago that Eminem daughter is hot. Then Eminem asked for an apology I think (so mgk says here anyways). Then apparently Eminem doesn't let him or his music on his station so mgk says he it black listing him. Also through all of this mgk also called out Eminem subliminally in a track with technine.
Edit: song called "no reason" and it really sounds like mgk verse is aimed at Eminem and was also released 6 years ago I believe.
Other then that I'm guessing he just seen an opportunity to go after the top guy and took it haha
