I have a DCC-1200MR that became clogged. This was the best video I could find that showed how to unclog it. Unfortunately, it did not help me. My machine was clean when I followed this procedure. I thought I'd share what I did find. I had to remove four star screws from the bottom of the machine to view the bottom and found two rubber hoses underneath. I was able to remove them to blow into them. One was clogged. I replaced those hoses and all is good now. Thanks for this video and getting me started.
So grateful to find this video! The problem was exactly what was wrong with our coffee maker, and the video made it straightforward to fix it. It is really useful to have a couple of small screwdrivers for this job. The clogged piece would only open half way for me and I didn't want to force it and risk breaking the little latches, so held it open with a small, thin screwdriver (sufficient space for the grounds) and just rinsed it out in the sink. You know it's clear when water flows freely out of the drip spout end and the feed end.
Thank you for sharing your story & video!! We had the exact same thing happen yesterday morning, my husband actually ordered a new coffee maker yesterday afternoon, I followed your video and cleaned it all out last night and he was able to cancel the order before they shipped it out. So glad to save the coffee maker, and the money!
OMG! This was fantastic. I bought mine at Costco too. Slightly different model CBC-6500PC. The upper parts that you speak of are identical. It totally works now. I run a vacation rental and people are always doing weird stuff or breaking things. The last guests left me with a full reservoir of water, a clogged system and coffee grounds everywhere. I was about to brew myself a cup of coffee when I noticed it. I was going to go to Costco to see if they would take it back and give me a new one. It was early in the AM and Costco wasn't open yet so I thought, "What the heck...let me check out RUclips". Thank goodness I found your video. It worked like a charm and now it's as clean as new. What a lifesaver for me. You are a rock star!
Thank you. Not only was I able to get our coffee maker working again but I also ended up feeling empowered! My husband was ready to just order a new coffee maker, but by following your excellent video, I was able to repair and keep our four-month-old machine.
Thank you!! So. Did this last night and voila no more broken machine! Guess I can return the unused one I bought. You saved me money and I impressed the hubby. Can’t thank you enough!
I'm so mad your video didn't come up in the searches the past 3 weeks I looked for coffeemaker fixing videos. I tried so many other methods but THIS is what I exactly needed all along. Was almost gonna throw the machine away cause there was no hope so thank God this video popped up!
Outstanding!! I knew there grounds in the line, but it really helps to know how to get those parts to separate. I use a reverse osmosis to filter water, so I didn't think I needed the charcoal filter. There really should be a cleanable metal screen for the water intake. Thanks for the very helpful video!
This is 4 years after you made this video. Thank you!Ww3 Was about to start over a coffee pot ! I hit the clean instead of brew and clogged it. This video saved many lives.
The excellent demo. You did a great job. My wife says I cannot do this because I get too quickly frustrated--so I am glad you shared to take time and be gentle is what I heard.
My college student came home and made coffee without the lid. Thank you so much for such a great video of exactly what I needed to do to have coffee in the morning. Having to buy coffee on the way to work was out of my way!!!
I just found your video and my husband repaired ours in five minutes!!! I’d forgotten to put the reusable filter in place and the coffee grounds backed up into it just like yours. Thanks so much!!!
THANK YOU!!! I was JUST on the way out the door to go get a new coffee maker but I thought I would check on youtube to see if someone knew what to do. The other day for some reason the coffee grounds went EVERYWHERE inside the machine and I just knew it was clogged. THIS was exactly what was wrong and now my coffee maker is working again!! YAY!!
I do have to add, I had another Cuisinart from Costco that I threw away and I am just SiCK because I now know it was fixable. Shame on Cuisinart for not educating us but they just want us to buy another one.
So thankful to find this posted video! This is exactly what I did (forgot to put on the carafe lid🥴)... This video saved our coffee maker☕️! Thank you 👍🏻!
Exact same thing happened to us--Cuisinart coffee maker backed up and stopped working. I had no idea what was broken and it was set out to throw away. Found this video, and it described the problem and the fix EXACTLY. Thank you so much! Looking forward to more years of good coffee now.
We’re on vacation in a fancy condo in Hawai. My wife ran the coffee maker without a filter on day one, and six jet lagged people are going crazy. I followed your instructions and saved the day. Many thanks! Note to Cuisinart - TERRIBLE design that this can happen so easily.
I have had this brand before & knew that it needed the lid on the coffee pot. I have never forgotten to put the lid on, but it still got clogged just from daily use. This worked perfectly! Thanks!
It worked! Thank you! I just had coffee grinds under the top lid and it was putting too much pressure on the spring at bottom of cone. Appreciate your help.
Thank you for posting this. I was ready to buy a new coffee maker until I saw and watched your post. Fixed it in 5 minutes. You saved me from buying a new coffee maker and now I know how to fix it if that happens again.
This video solved the problem for me. Thanks. Easy fix- with two screwdrivers, one for prying and one to help to keep the leverage maintained while I was prying other areas.
There is a MUCH EASIER way. I watched this video and then realized that I could reverse flush it with a garden hose. Take the coffee maker outside, lay it on its side on the grass; then apply the garden hose (I did it with a spray nozzle) to the hole in the center of the lid. It will flush out ALL of the blockage in seconds...................AND you do not have to tear it apart. Be sure to just focus the hose on the center of the lid. You DO NOT want to get water in the electronics in the body of the coffee maker.. Works like a champ.
Exact thing happened to me and was able to fix thanks to this vid. Was headed out to the garbage with it when I thought- maybe someone’s got a vid on this… thanks!!
Saved me $100 and my sanity. Putting the piece back on @2:30 was a pain. I found pushing it back towards the lid, then sliding it left works better then the angle and shove method. Thanks again.
I, like your wife forgot to attach the lid as well. I don't know about your wife; but for me, I chalk it up to being an ADD dimwit because I do stupid things like this every so often. And I AM ADD. And this was the second coffeemaker I did it to. You would think I would have learned from the first time. Not so for me. But I KNEW there had to be a solution on RUclips and lo and behold you provided that solution. I am now brewing delicious coffee again with my Cuisinart Coffee Maker. So, THANK YOU! By the way I sent an email to Cuisinart suggesting they make the lid NON-REMOVABLE. A quick solution to prevent this from happening. At least I think so. Haven't received a response yet.
Thank you this was very helpful! We had a similar situation I put the carafe in the dishwasher in the evening and my husband woke up early and turned the coffee pot on without the carafe in the coffee maker. We tried several things to get it working again and were about to replace it and found you video. Exactly our issue and it fixed it!
Thank You for helping me repair the coffeemaker. Did exactly what you stated, cleared the grinds and snapped pieces back into place. Husband made coffee without the lid....argh
Just bought ours a month ago! My husband did the same thing and didn’t check to put the carafe lid on first! Thankful I found your video, we were just going to replace it! Ugh!
Many thanks! I did not put the lid on but it was only a small amount of coffee being made, so the grind were not too bad. Great demonstration on taking apart! I was able to do that.
Thank you so much for the video. I tried this for the SS-20 model and had to do a couple more steps afterwards to get it working again. Don't snap everything back right away to try your test run. It turns out the clear pipe was also clogged. We use a hanger to clear the L joint and clear pipe that long piece was connected to. Then we ran the brew several times with just the long piece in placed without the square cover until the from the brew is almost clear. The hanger losen the clog inside the pipe and the multiple brew run flashed out the residual coffee ground in other areas. Be careful the water gets very hot so don't open the lid during the brew test run. Put everything back together after the water comes out clean in the coffee pot.
I did the same thing as your wife only I forgot to put the whole carafe under the filter. What a mess! After my mistake I cleaned my machine ( so I thought ) but the brew still taste like burnt coffee. After seeing your video I now know what the problem is. I have Cuisinart DCC-1100 and it appears to be assembled the same as in your video. Thanks...wish me luck...
Thanks very much, great video. One improvement to your fix, when removing the nozzle at the 1 minute 11 second point of the video, if you push the nozzle arm down as far down as it will go, it slides right off to the right, no prying with a knife or screwdriver required. Thanks again!
Thanks for this; it helped me solve the same problem. I had a slightly different model; removing the nozzle was harder but separating the two halves was easier.
Thank you so much. Was about to throw the thing out! BTW, I found that I didn't have to take the nozzle piece off. I just separate the halves while it was attached and gave it a rinse.
Upon moving yesterday I believe this has happened to my Cuisinart Extreme Brew. Will be trying to do this when I return from work. Hope I have the skills to get the pieces apart so nicely. Appreciate You. *dig the kooky music
Thank you so much! My wife got this Coffee Maker for Christmas and immediately made the same mistake. I was able to fix it, made her happy and me love that I could fix it. Saved our marriage... just kidding but a little.
I totally agree with everyone else: so incredibly helpful. However, I did manage to break the "spout" which you remove around 1:15, and I cannot find a replacement anywhere online. Apparently there is a trick, described by one of your reviewers, about pressing the spout downwards and then it slides off easily. Damn! Wish I had been more gentle. However the video was a 100% exact solution for my problem. Thanks!
Ah ha! I didn't know that was the purpose of the knob on top of the carafe, and holy cow has the coffee maker been plugged up with every pot since. Now I know why! Thanks! (it's the coffee pot at work, so I didn't have the book LOL).
Thanks - this video helped fix our coffee maker. I’m still mad that quisinarte designed this so that a simple mistake (like missing lid) can cause so much trouble.
For everyone watching this video please be aware that the 1200 will not come apart like this. The only thing that’s the same is the cover on the inside of the lid. The spout in the 1200 model is not meant to come off and not meant to come apart (even though there are clips). Unfortunately I learned this the hard way. I just want to inform everyone in case they are about to make the mistake I did when trying to clean it. It was of no fault to the video creator though as he literally showed us the model number before beginning.
I think what you’re saying happened to me too unfortunately. The spout sheered off and u could tell it broke. But at least I didn’t find any coffee beans inside the spout thing so I am not sure what the issue was with mine
Instead of taking mine apart I laid it on it's back with the top lid over the sink. I ran water through the holes flipping the lid up and down so the water would get into that arm. I flipped the whole coffee maker over and let the water drain out through the holes. I also whacked the top of the lid to loosen up the grounds more. After doing this several times, my coffee maker is as good as new.
You’re fantastic! Nice help. Your wife is not alone there are many like her, hahha. I also might add that there is a check valve in the system that is in the interior of the machine. That’s what clogged mine. Good luck everyone
There is a MUCH EASIER way. I watched this video and then realized that I could reverse flush it with a garden hose. Take the coffee maker outside, lay it on its side on the grass; then apply the garden hose (I did it with a spray nozzle) to the hole in the center of the lid. Perfect. Second pot “someone “ forgot to put the lid on the carafe, and I started at the base and worked up . Until I found this I couldnt figure out top disassembly.
This is fabulous! Just what I needed. Unfortunately like another poster - I broke the nozzle piece removing it. Does anyone happen to know the part number or where I can get a replacement? I hate to throw the coffee maker away for this little missing piece.
After several frustrating weeks I followed your instructions but the inside of the diffuser was clean, no coffee grounds. I started to disassemble the unit and I noticed a small black plastic block on the inside of the water reservoir. I moved it around and realized it was a float. After making sure it slid up and down the track that locked it in place, I filled up the tank and it worked without shutting off prematurely. You would think Cuisinart would have mentioned this potential problem in the operating manual.
This worked great for a DCC-3400 - one note, I skipped the part at 1:15 after seeing another video with someone breaking this part. I just skipped to 1:21 with the arm still attached and carefully removed the top (and came really close to breaking the side tabs).
Thanks for sharing that info!
Please do a video of this "bottom 2 hose" clean out! Thanks!
Yep, my clog must be in the hose too. This procedure got me started troubleshooting. Thank you.
So grateful to find this video! The problem was exactly what was wrong with our coffee maker, and the video made it straightforward to fix it. Your instructions worked like a charm! I was resigned to buying a new machine when I saw your video. You saved me $100. Thanks
Wow, You are miracle. You saved our maker. It was only a year old. Thank you
That's great to hear! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for posting this. I was ready to buy a new coffee maker until I saw and watched your post. Fixed it in 5 minutes. You saved me from buying a new coffee maker and now I know how to fix it if that happens again.
Thank you so much - my daughter forgot the lid last week - did not know it caused such havoc until I descaled and found all those grounds.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! You saved my day, after a huge coffee fail this morning.
You're very welcome!
This was perfect and short. Thank you. Just saved my coffee maker and looked like a stud to the wife.
You're welcome! I'm glad it helped!

Thank you for this! It confirmed that cuisinart did in fact engineer this machine to be replaced, not to be easily fixed or maintained 😅
This is not a difficult fix.
Saved me $100 and my sanity. Putting the piece back on @2:30 was a pain. I found pushing it back towards the lid, then sliding it left works better then the angle and shove method. Thanks again.
Great tip! Thanks!
Thank you SO MUCH! I followed your exact steps and it all works! Very clear instructions. Phew, am so sick of replacing coffee makers.
That's great to hear! Happy for you!!

I'm glad the video helped!
I’m so glad I found your video. I need to take my coffee pot apart and clean the water line. I wasn’t sure if that piece came off. Thank you.
Good luck to you!
Thank you! This solved completely the issue we had with our coffee maker. We tried everything and nothing else worked
Great to hear!

Many thanks! I did not put the lid on but it was only a small amount of coffee being made, so the grind were not too bad. Great demonstration on taking apart! I was able to do that.
So happy for you! Glad it helped!
Very grateful to have found your video. Hadn't ocurred to me that coffee grounds could be pushed back into water spreader tube. Thanks!
Thank you for the additional information! I'm hopeful it will help someone else!
Thank you so much for this video!! I knew someone out there had experienced this! Wonderful of you to share!!!!
Thank you for the kind comment! Best of luck to you!
Awesome!! Thank you. The small piece was totally clogged with coffee grounds
So glad the video helped!
Hey, thanks a bunch. This saved me a lot of time trying to figure out how those parts come apart. Much appreciated!!
That's great! Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you☺ solved our problem. We could not remove the “spout” but were able to clean out anyway
That's great to hear!
Good Luck!
This video totally saved me from throwing out my coffee maker and having to buy a new one. Thank you!
That's awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

Happy you were able to save it! Thanks for sharing your tip!
This was the exact problem and solution. You saved the day!
Happy for you!

Appreciate You.

I did the exact same thing. Thank you so much, you just helped us save some money.
That's great!
Thanks a bunch. You have saved so many people a lot of money!
Thanks for the comment!
Beautiful, I would have broke it doing what I thought had to be done. Thank you coffee man!
You are welcome. Thanks for the feedback!
Totally worked. I ran some follow up vinegar and it works...thanks dude, you rocked it here in Charlotte :)
Great to hear!
ya mr I was looking to replace and your info stoped it so thanks again
Thank you so much! My wife got this Coffee Maker for Christmas and immediately made the same mistake. I was able to fix it, made her happy and me love that I could fix it. Saved our marriage... just kidding but a little.
Thanks so much, this solved my problem. I could not remove the inner spout piece but I was able to pry it apart and clean it. Problem solved!

This was invaluable! Thanks so much for sharing this.....all fixed now!
Yay! Happy for you!
You sir, are a hero! Thank you, it worked like a charm.
Great! I’m in a vacation house full of family and the coffee maker won’t work. This video made short work of the problem. Thanks!
Saved me breaking the machine. Wonderful video. Thank you.

You’re fantastic! Nice help. Your wife is not alone there are many like her, hahha. I also might add that there is a check valve in the system that is in the interior of the machine. That’s what clogged mine. Good luck everyone
Thank you!, you saved the day, and my coffee maker.

Nicely done ✅ It’s what I needed to know. Thank you !
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect. Second pot “someone “ forgot to put the lid on the carafe, and I started at the base and worked up . Until I found this I couldnt figure out top disassembly.
I'm glad it helped!
OMG thanks so much ! I did exactly what you did and I fixed this myself. ;)
Awesome! I'm glad it helped!
Thank you! Saved me buying a new coffee maker.
Glad I could help!
Thanks! Totally fixed my screw up....
Thank you, your video worked!
That's great news!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you, Charlie. I messed with the float and after a while something dislodged and I could get flow and coffee.
Thank you for this video! It saved me!
This worked great for a DCC-3400 - one note, I skipped the part at 1:15 after seeing another video with someone breaking this part. I just skipped to 1:21 with the arm still attached and carefully removed the top (and came really close to breaking the side tabs).
Great information. Thanks for sharing that!
Thanks so much ... Worked like a charm
Awesome job!
Awesome video thanks saved my coffee maker .
I'm glad it helped!
