While you may not see “the point” of taking time to wrap a present with such care and originality, it shows that the giver has taken the time to do something special for the person being gifted. It serves as a gorgeous decoration under the tree. It is a wonderful way of teaching children that using your time and talents is a worthwhile endeavor and would be a fun project for a family. It is also a lesson in sustainability. The wrap can be made from a paper bag and the ribbon can be used over again. The point is that it brings joy to those who have the privilege of receiving such a gift as well as the satisfaction of knowing that you didn’t just stuff something into a homemade gift bag or pop a pre made bow onto a gift box.

I agree. I think it also gives pause to the receiver and (perhaps) gives them the opportunity to appreciate the gift as a gift and not something wrapped in stuff.
I tried some of the beautiful gift wrapping techniques last Christmas and the receivers loved it and I'm hooked on it now. What a beautiful art it is to give gifts with care, beauty, and personalization in mind.
