I find it amazing that the deadlift standard has raised so much in the last 5 years, while the overhead standard has not. The average top-end athlete is basically 10% stronger from the floor, while overhead records like the log and axle haven't moved (other than marginal improvements in the UK and US log) - and it doesn't seem like the average has gone up noticeably. Possibly because Eddie et al made the deadlift so cool?
He has a bright future but Thor already mentioned that he might come back in 2023 and we all know that he had at least 15-20kg in the tank when he lifted 501 , he is still relatively young (Brian got better in deadlift as he got older too)

People still question Thor's deadlift and it's understandable as to why. He really does not like Eddy Hall and he didn't achieve this at a competition with unbias judges. He did this in his own gym with his own weights that his dad "verified" met the weight standard for the world record. When comparing his lift versus Eddie Hall's, it just appears as though he is lifting tremendous weight but not as much. Eddie Hall suffered a brain bleed to accomplish this and was bleeding while doing the lift. The worst Thor appeared to suffer was skinned shins from the bar. If he did in fact life 501kg, it's impressive. If he didn't, it's a damn shame. All I know is, I wasn't there and neither were any of you to know the truth.
There was an official present for the 501 deadlift, the same guy who oversees the official competitions. It was unfortunate that Thor hit his best ever shape during lockdown, he could not maintain that size for long so we didn't get to see a 200kg Thor deadlift at an independent event, but I still believe he lifted 501.
@@Slash1066 As I've said before, if that's an official lift, it's impressive af. I'm surprised their knees don't give out doing deadlifts at that weight.
Thor had targeted the WUS that was due to take place in May 2020 to break the record and his training had him peak at that date, so rather than put all that training to waste, an official, sanctioned, independent officiated and adjudicated event took place instead. Additionally, Eddie's record was at a Giant's Live event where he's very good friends with the owner and judges so your claim of his lift being unbiased is tenuous at best.
@king bloodbrothersforlife kj Well sure. ivan makarov is huge as well. but he missed 500+ twice so far. The hype was real but actually lifting 500+ is something else. Could be the same with pavlo. But i would be happy to be wrong
Asko in first and Pavlo in second (though he might be first when older). Sadly, Peiman's lockout would never be valid in a competition. Ivan has to fix his injury and then, maybe we can talk about it.
I think Pavlo will definitely break the record and set a new one that will last for a long time. His 435x 3 that you used was his first set, he then went on to do another one with a full lockout on all reps (he had strap issues in his first set). It looked like RPE 8-9 for him and I believe he could pull 470-475 for a max single personally. With him being 23 years of age adding 30-40 kg to that should be very achievable!
Pavlo and Asko are the only ones are earth that have a chance at 501. Pavlo I believe will be the biggest record holder going forward (and break 501) due to his genetics and age. Peiman is no where near lockout with weights over 1000lbs. Ivan is maxed out with his current form. It would take a few years to change his form and take a shot at it and I think his body already has too many miles on it (you can only do so many 1000+ lb deadlifts). Whatever the case, neither Peiman or Ivan are anywhere near locking out - which will be about as easy to achieve as a novice climber - climbing everest.
Agree, Asko is closest at the moment, Pavlo is a beast and has plenty of time to pull bigger numbers. Ivan close but is definitely stuck at 490-495 mark. Peiman is a strong dude, but oh so many problems

He has to get a lot bigger, because he looks small compared to Eddie Hall and especially Hafthor, and they both struggled like mad, like Eddie Hall almost died lifting that weight. Adding a serious bicep injury to the mix, i just dont know. But i wish him luck!.
There are many reasons but the fact Strongman was created in Europe, is part of the culture, knowledge, coaching, facilities, climate and finances are probably the main reasons
@@suzukipower9330 there are absolutely genetic factors but due to lack of the things I have mentioned before some regions of the world haven't had the chance to exploit their genetic potential
It's the cultural norm of eastern European countries to value and emphasize strong men and beautiful women. If you go to those countries, as I have done, you'll see it's true. You'll find gyms with world-class lifters in them, Olympic and powerlifting and strongman. To a certain extent, it goes back to the Soviet era, when Olympic lifting was encouraged in those countries by the government. Also, feminism never emasculated those countries and traditional gender roles prevail there unquestioned. The men lift weights and are hyper-masculine, by Western standards and the young women are hyper-feminine (at least until they marry). And genetically, the people are naturally strong in these countries, from generations of farming.

He pulled 475 just some week ago. Should be very plausible.
@@stuffofmaking but there's a 30 kgs difference... That's a lot
Pavlo, at some point...
How many of you know strongman George olesen?
He look higher than 1.94
Who is this guy's surgeon ?
If you haven't Won the Worlds Strongest Man Title, does it really count?
Of course it does. They're two completely different, separate, disparate things.
he need a lot of rest for his arm
He has to get a lot bigger, because he looks small compared to Eddie Hall and especially Hafthor, and they both struggled like mad, like Eddie Hall almost died lifting that weight. Adding a serious bicep injury to the mix, i just dont know. But i wish him luck!.
I believe the English chap will be the one
English chap? Do you mean Luke Richardson? If so he suffered a Distal Bicep rupture at WSM so he will not be competing.
8:00 390х4!!! NOT х3
Thank you
Is his coach on RUclips? How do you spell his name? Thanks.
At least he has never tried it before, Ivan failed too many times
Show
why most of the worlds strongest man are in europe?
There are many reasons but the fact Strongman was created in Europe, is part of the culture, knowledge, coaching, facilities, climate and finances are probably the main reasons
@@StrengthUniverse so you dont think there is a genetic factor?
@@suzukipower9330 there are absolutely genetic factors but due to lack of the things I have mentioned before some regions of the world haven't had the chance to exploit their genetic potential
@@StrengthUniverse thanks that makes a lot of sense
Hey man love the videos keep em coming. I think they need some regs when it comes to those figure 8 straps. Its like you don't even have to hold the bar. Again love the vids thanx.
Cheers bud, I agree, it's getting like Powerlifting with each federation having their own rules, Arnolds, Gaints Live, Ultimate Strongman and WUS all use different rules. I could be wrong but I believe that only Gaints Live allow figure 8 straps
Pavlo will never dead lift over 500kg but neither will I haha
I believe he will, his max is already around 470kg at 23 years old.
I think Luke Richardson also has a shot at Deadlift World Record.
Maybe if he wanted to but his only interest is competing in Strongman
I am sure Pavel will deadlift 505+ very soon (before end of 2022 year). When he is 30 yrs old, he'll pull 600+, because he is a prodigy!!!
Crazy progress😲
