Meritorious Service Award for Hero Bus Driver

The Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department recognized Renita Smith with a Meritorious Service Award. Renita was the bus driver that safely evacuated 20 children from her bus that had caught fire. After all the children were off the bus she re-entered and checked each seat to ensure all had escaped safely. The bus was a total loss, however, there were no injuries.
