nah, you play in easy difficulty and still got hit
It goes to show how much Kratos has changed that he's trying to STOP his son from killing Freya, even though she's trying to kill him right now
It changes lot after kratos finally get happy ending after 7 fucking trilogy lol😭
Now he is an angel...
@@pazamor9164 not an Angel but a reasonable person that doesn’t kill innocent people or Gods…
Kratos will never forget how Freya helped him cure Atreus.
He was protecting Atreus from Freya imho.
2:10 no matter all the strength, powers or gods he kills, this little voice line made Kratos the most human being I ever see him in a while.
Its jarring and poweful. Love GOW ragnarok
Yeah. There's a lot of those kinds of lines in the past games as well. Probably except 2 and 3 where he was at his angriest
7:48 when she yelled I think she realized she was fukin up big time, because the nice kid who she really liked and that really liked her WAS MORE THAN READY TO KILL HER, and the man she hated the most at the moment SAVED HER AGAIN
I think it was even more mixed emotions than that. She was realizing she screwed up, but at the same time seeing Kratos comfort and calm Atreus knowing he killed her son was all kinds of conflicted emotions.
@@elemento1991 Freya's scream was the expression of every conflicting emotion:
Sympathy because she actually cares for Atreus and pities seeing him in distress.
Guilt because she was about to take his father from him.
Guilt and shame because Atreus, who once reciprocated her feelings, now feared her and was willing to kill her.
Shock because Kratos still considers her a friend and tries to spare her.
Patronizing because "who is Kratos to think I can just forgive him after he killed my son?"
Yearning because seeing Kratos comfort Atreus reminded her of the times she comforted her own son.
Sorrow because her son is dead.
Anger because Kratos killed him.
Envy because Kratos' son is alive but hers isn't.
Conflicted because she seeks vengeance against Kratos, but knows it would hurt Atreus.
More conflicted because she remembers Kratos killed her son to protect her when he tried to kill her as revenge for the curse she put on him.
Regret for having put the curse in the first place and depriving him of joy.
Anger, confusion, and regret because her efforts were for nothing as her son died regardless.
And survivor's guilt because she lived when her son didn't.
Her scream contained all of that.
Indeed, even Atreus got tired of her bullshit.
@@abstract5249 I just hope she can cry all her wants on someone that loves her (probably no one now), so she had to bottle up all the emotions and lives in agony.
Kratos new love interest 😏😏😏
6:45 you could hear the pain Atreus is going through in this scene. At this point, he thinks his father could die in any instance, and witnessing Freya potentially ending Kratos’ life, he looses it.

This scene make me tear a little cause I feel bad for everyone here, especially father and son
Both father and son trying to save each other from death, Especially Loki, You seen he trying so hard to save krato life even tho Krato seem like he obviously don't need help and Krato know he gonna die in the future, Krato want to make sure his own kid become stronger than Krato before Krato die in peace, Like damn I feel bad for both of them father and son 😢
@@PlaystationGamerZX for what I understand greek gods grow more powerful the older they get and Kratos got a little over 1000 over Atreus, so it may take a time for he be stronger that Kratos.
6:28 god the quiet, shaky way Kratos said Freya's name, just realizing who he was really fighting in that instance. it says SO MUCH with so little. Judge is such an incredible VA
And he let his gaurd down and stopped fighting immediately.
Is it wrong to call it the best va performance in a series between gow and ragnorak? Obviously the writing is great as well and all the va's gave phenomenal performances but his Kratos truly captures every feeling needed.
What did it say?
1:39 loved this moment. Felt so badass and actually caught me off guard.
I got shocked for real lmao
A very “BOI!!!!!!” Moment!
the conversation after was astonishing you can truly feel the care that kratos has for his son and the utter betrayal in his voice and to not yell at him.
literally jumpscared me lol had me thinking it was my actual dad catching me after sneaking out in highschool 😂
I was really terrified at this point 😆
This scene was great... Atreus believes his father was destined to die so he gets enraged seeing Freya put her sword at his throat. Freya realizes Kratos really wanted to save her life all this time for saving Atreus when he was sick and it wasn't just an excuse to kill Baldur. She also realizes they would die for each other unlike her relationship with her own son Baldur... with Baldur trying to kill her.
Yup. You can just feel the self-hate seething in Freya as she walks away from Kratos. She's a literal fertility goddess, she gave her entire life to motherhood and protection and she STILL couldn't make it work. Just the sight of Kratos and Atreus mutually loving each other to death...watching her son die was one thing, but knowing it was because of her nature and her failures must have hurt more than anything.
If you ask me, a lesser god would have taken their own life on the spot.
"Every agony, every violation imaginable"
Kratos' mind: *I miss faye*
I bet he does.
One of those violations involves getting a replacement son.
*Circle button appears over Kratos*
“Oh, that kind of violation.”
"Hol' up, that's how I feel about my wife"
7:48 Freya scream said so much.
1. Kratos save her life again. And they still consider her a friend.
2. Freya knows she need the help of the man that killed her son.
3. Freya also knows her hatred may indeed be misplace. Sure kratos kill baldur but would baldur wanted to kill her had she not cursed him. And she might of been able to fix things with him had Odin not locked her away in Midgard.
That scream had so much behind it.
Add the fact that if Baldur lived, Odin will probably still use Baldur to hunt Kratos and Atreus and the duo would have no choice but to kill him
Pretty much
I think it was also her coming to realize that Kratos would never fight her even save his life, she would have to just cold blood kill him. He only recognized it was Freya was when he recognized her sword. And think seeing how they still consider her a friend even though she had been trying to kill them the past years, and Kratos fighting Atreus to protect her and from Atreus harming her show her how much she meant to them, it must've gotten to her heart and she realize shouldn't kill them if she could.
And also how Kratos comforts Atreus, with her losing Baldur, and seeing the very man who killed him, she hates him, but she also sees a parent with a child and having a flashback of Baldur's childhood, a whole train of emotions in those few seconds
@@unculturedmanofculture6837 I didn't think about that, so she saw that if she killed Kratos she would be taking away Atreus father from him. It goes to show how Freya is a good person and even through her immense anger she was finally able to see it would be wrong to kill him. The revenge probably would have tortured her worse if she would have went thru with it.
6:33 I love how immediately after Freya is revealed to be your opponent, Baldur’s theme from the last game makes a glorious comeback.
That's actually Freya's theme. Not Baldur's.
@@scipion3679 But it played every time Baldur was present. Even if it’s listed as Freya’s somewhere, Baldur is the first one people think of when they hear it.
@@AntonNight Maybe? But I do recall a different theme playing during most of Baldur's scene in GOW4.
Late reply, pardon.
They’re the same tune, just Baldur’s always had a melancholic or tragic tone to it because of his suffering and inevitable fate. Whereas with Freya it reappears with a more triumphant and aggressive tone to reflect her pursuing revenge on Kratos in Baldur’s name.
This is actually GOW 3 theme....
When I fought the Valkyrie in this part of the game, I figured out that it was Freya very quickly. For one thing, the Valkyrie was wearing Freya's armor and wielding her sword. Second, she was named Vanadis. In Norse Mythology, many of the gods, including Freya (or Freyja), have multiple other names, and Vanadis is one of Freyja's other names.
And just for a fun fact: Freya's primary sword, and her second sword that she obtains in a side quest, are named Thrungva and Mardoll respectively. Thrungva and Mardoll are also 2 of Freyja's other names in the myths.
i mean not all of us know the norse mythology as well as u, i only figured it out pretty quickly just cos she was using a sword and bow, and the other valkryies used scythes and feather attacks and shit as well as the previous game mentioning freya was looking for her valkryie wings
the more you know!
Honestly thought by mimir saying "he did it" i thought he meant odin finally made a valkyrie under his control or something
was pretty shocked to find out it was freya
All I got from this is you knew some Norse mythology and think you’re better than everyone
@@YouKnowTony1 I don't think that.
It’s actually insane how this game can put you exactly where you need to be for the cutscene.
I think it plays a couple tricks to switch out the locations as needed. The first Thor fight definitely did that.
The close up shots that avoid facing the ground provide the illusion of that. The cuts can be seen if you pay very close attention to
It's a oner-cinematography applied to a video game.
almost every boss with a cutscene has a moment where kratos spins around or turns close up to the camera, if you pay attention the game intentionally uses this to move you exactly where you need to go
So the Valkyrie mommy stomp is a standard combat move taught in Valkyrie school
I know where you are going with it. Stomp me mommy vibes
If she said “every agony, every violation imaginable” to me the same way…
I would NOT mind

Can't believe Atreus really asked if Kratos needed protection
A son worried about his father, who he believes is destined to die, is unbelievable?
Atreus doesnt really know Kratos's past.
@@arielfetters5662 Atreus has already seen what kratos is capable of. He does not need protection.
A son who see a glimpse of a future were his father lie dead in him is a horrifying sight, any son with enough concern and love for his parent would feel what Atreus felt. Sure Kratos did defy his fate multiple times but Atreus doesn't know that and even if he did, he would probably feel the same for the very reason that Kratos is his father.
@@christianpaulalim7145 Still Kratos could have just said he has died like 3 times already lol.
4:20 Try parrying her arrows, she’ll parry it back at you. But Kratos is still boss and can parry it again back at her. When I did it successfully felt so OP
Kratos looks more hurt then mad when talking to atreus
Seeing Freya so confused and conflicted about killing kratos is one of the most human thing I've seen. Your conscience is the scale that balances good and evil, right or wrong. Where the power of reason decide whether to motivate vengeance or forgiveness. Tallying only whether you listen to good or evil. This is my favorite scene in GOW RAGNAROK.
Man, you can hear it in his voice of how desperate and hurt he feels when he questioned him if he sought death. Shows you how much of a change he has gone through. And also cause Christopher Judge is awesome as an actor.
The way Freya screams and shatters the rock next to Kratos sends chills down my spine everytime I witness it.
Vanadis was actually the other name for Freya.
in this game, Frigg was also another name for Freya, but in the original myths, they were two different Goddesses
and it looks like Atreus has learned how to shape shift
Kratos should just smash and give her another kid she’ll be happy

That boss fight was so badass especially how it ended with freya reveal herself (I actually forgot that she was a valkyrie once) and Atreus almost try’s to kill her cause he’s afraid of his father’s death, such a epic scene (I still haven’t finished the game but I gotta a long way to go)
Freya leads Valkyries. Or lead.
Atreus is probably afraid that freya will bring about the death prophecy of kratos.
I'm not sure either of the father & son could do much. Freya was nerf greatly.
During her Prime, she & a handful of others were strong enough to Push an entire army of Asgard back. Even Odin, along with Army cannot break Vannaheim.
And she made Thor (who Kratos was having quite a hard time with) look like a child. As she was able to take control of him and preventing from killing Giants. Mimir said that Freya cast a spell to force both Thor & Herself back into Asgard. The same powerful spell that Mimir said, would taken all Jonar Kings to join hand just to cast it but Freya managed it all by herself at an instant. Mimir claimed that it was the most powerful display of Magic he had ever witness.
Remember that her Vines can hold Kratos, Baldur & Odin down with ease. I'm pretty she won't have any issue with a Bear.
@@austinjt4264still was not able to save baldur

- Kratos to Atreus (as he keeps Atreus from attacking Freya after she postures to torture and kill Kratos), God of War: Ragnarok
Ok... What's the point of your comment?
@@Ace_03 Sounding profound. Showing that Freya is wrong and Kratos is right.
@@Ace_03 Showing:
1) That Kratos' rage was (and is) a conscious choice rather than a fixed aspect of his divine nature; one which he has learned to deny rather than indulge.
2) That Freya's judgment of Kratos, as real as it might have felt to her in the wake of her loss, was ultimately misguided; that Kratos potential for change was not only real but the catalyst for Freya's change as well.
@@bigollameo Oh ok.. thanks for making it understandable
@@Ace_03 Happy to do it. Apologies for not making it clear.
The best moments in the game is an angry Freya. She's badass!
And the wholesome Freya at the end 🥺
Now imagine Kratos and Freya never meet, Freya never cured Atreus. Atreus probably die to the sickness and Kratos is on the rampage again
Kratos would be mostly sad if you ask me,he went on a rampage because it was he that killed his previous family,Atreus dying of sickness wouldnt be his fault on his mind even though tecnically he would feel guilty,if he knew the disease was caused by him
@@Elia-fn8jv eventually over his wandering in midgard hes gonna meet the norse gods and you know these guys knows how to provoke people
@@Elia-fn8jv well actually there are more reasons on why he was so pissed in the course of the previous games. Your right though kratos would be sad if Atreus died from the disease, but the thing that the gods should be scared about is if he starts thinking being a family man isn't what he was meant to be and all he ever will be is a monster. At that point kratos dies and the ghost is all that is left.
What's going on here is simply, yet beautiful.
A parent lost a beloved son due to circumstances not in her power to control.
But vengeance or not, taking Kratos from his son would not solve anything. It'd just be another tragedy.
Well actually baldur was kinda her fault. give her like 20% because she gave him the curse and that made the man go crazy. The rest goes to Odin
bro i read it as circumstances but my mind translated it to circumcision
It was the fact that the kid she loved was more then willing to kill her while the man she hated and could never forgive saved her life and didn’t want her to die

Man wouldn’t it be so dope to play as Freya ? I can spot out 3 or 4 moves that can EASILY be turned into runic attacks or summons. Not to mention her combat when she’s a companion share animations with Atreus, who we know IS playable. Hmm it makes me wonder if they’re planning DLC for the future or if she was playable at one point but scrapped. Would love a side story set around playing as her tho.
Maybe if the next game still had Kratos as the main character (most likely in another Pantheon cause it's confirmed that they're done with Norse pantheon), maybe they could give Freya a playable part like Atreus did in this game
@@ariqsyafwan4987 yeah that would be really dope. I honestly feel like they could add an extra area to Alfheim or have us go on a mission in Vanaheim with Freya, Lunda as companion? Maybe all the stats can be tied to what sword you use like Atreus with the bow(cooldown mostly)

If these guys would like to make a Cherinob game... I can think of a few other pantheons that need a good beat-down. By setting a Cherinob game before the first proper story, set in 2015, it's entirely possible to have Cherinob lay waste without a dozen different government agencies all jumping the scene.
Also, since Apthalans are 4D, and are really just angels, Cherinob can be battling demons disguising themselves as gods from any number of pantheons. She can even wage war on other planets, allowing for planetary destruction to be a consequence if a conflict goes bad, with zero impact on Earth history.
