I don't remember much, but it was in an auditorium very much like this one at Newport. I entered boot camp in San Diego on Feb 11, 1956 and got my commission on Oct 10, 1956. I was truly a 300 day wonder. There was one black, one Hispanic, two Chinese and 3 part Hawaiians in my class of 700 candidates, so the times have changed.
From a 1972 graduate of OCS Newport, well done and good luck. This video brings back a lot of memories although we did not have a class photo. A big moment in my life and the beginning of a great experience as a naval officer.
@@skeptock3205 I still think about my service a lot. I also have a recurring dream that I am on a ship, but I either have no uniform or I am in uniform but missing my hat!!!
Congratulate mate Some people have tough luck, they can only be up at this point of hour and watch someone graduate OCS when they dreamed of it too I couldn’t make it to Suppo board in 2017 Trying again now for SWO don’t knw what will happen Any helpful tips will be apprenticed Congratulations again
@@eyespy505 thank your son for his service and thank you for allowing him to serve, sir. I am going for the HPSP/HSCP (healthcare professional scholarship program). I am hoping to be a doctor and an officer in the navy. My dream is to work in the USNS Mercy or USNS Comfort and serve my country.
Not an official OCS video…just a proud parent enjoying watching my son graduate. My utmost respect for anyone serving this country, including my son who is now deployed as an aviator. 🇺🇸

I was a 1974 graduate of OCS Newport. Echo your sentiments and good wishes for this young man. We didn't have a class photo either.
