    • @christianlolomoreno
      @christianlolomoreno 4 дня назад +5

      @@ZatipoGarcia watch the movie again! There is most definitely an arc, but it's very subtle and nuanced.
      The theme explores the relationship between Cohen and Trump, the political master and the apprentice---and the transformation that takes place between not only them as a duo, but as individuals. It's about the rise of Donald Trump and the fall of Roy Cohen, and the transference of generational power which takes place and results in the emergence of the so called "patriotic" ideology that ultimately consumes and births the troubling America that we find ourselves in today. Ironically and ultimately in-part because of Cohen's actions, who prided himself as a protector of the nation, when all he did was exploit it. He realizes what he created in the end which explains the sadness he finds during his party. Fantastic film, regardless of political affiliation.

    "I have an instinct Tony, a killer instinct, I always have." Every moment of the film is dedicated to showing Trump's weaknesses and how he evolves into being self-centered, but his final act in the film is to deny any of it happened, he's always been self-centered, he's always been a winner, so he's stealing his mentor's advice and passing it off as his own, while simultaneously following it to a tee.

      Hobbesian? How so?

    • @VesperAegis
      @VesperAegis День назад +5

      @matthauswang That is to say that the world is a jungle, and man's nature is naturally savage without the implementation of a social contract and appeal to a higher authority. There are many alternatives to this theory at the basal assumption level about man's intrinsic nature even if we were to arrive at a necessity for social contract.

    • @matthauswang
      @matthauswang 3 часа назад

      @ Ah, I see. But it seems to me that his Hobbesian qualities end there. Trump has no interest in clearing the metaphorical jungle, only becoming the "biggest and baddest" savage in a pre-sovereign world.

      @matthauswang 2 часа назад

      @@VesperAegis I would even say that Trump demonstrates some markedly anti-Hobbesian qualities. When he incited Jan. 6, it was an act perpetuated against the sovereign, and one with destabilizing effect. great movie. I really like how they didn't go for any low-hanging fruit: they didn't make Trump an idiot, he's clearly pretty intelligent. They also didn't make any jokes about diapers. They just used him as a vehicle for telling a very compelling tragedy about a man's descent into total corruption

Hes more adaptable and is smart to navigate in todays political climate. Hes the exact opposite and is original unlike Kamala.
