Really appreciate you uploading content like this that’s so clearly showing what’s going on. Recently I was unable to get my bait out far enough into a headwind so have been self teaching this cast by watching your videos. I’ve been recording my attempts, uploading here and getting tips from fellow anglers. Thanks again for your contributions to the online casting community, your videos have been invaluable to me and I imagine so many others.
Such a unique cast. Slowing it down shows the pause and how low the tip of the rod is. It almost looks like a otg just before you pull it round. I’m gonna have to have a go of this style I’ve never quite got to grips with a high swing pendulum so I’ve either do a otg , airelised ground cast or just an overhead.
@@djrmonix I’ll have to have a go my best cast was an otg but only got 188m on a 15ft conti .38 line tapered shock leader and fixed spool reel and the wind behind me. Tbh I’ve moved from multis to fixed but I’m moving back into the 2pc rods and 6500 ct again. I’m building my own multi with a mono mag and one piece frame.
Been said before about flat swing that a person has to be of big build to get best of this cast maybe due to stiffer rod req, wereas a true high swing is the opposite wether it matters in a fishing situ i sm not sure,i do find myself the flatter pend enables me to miss the deck when fishing which to me is very important.do you not think the high swing produces biggest numbers. Nice vid great cast and thanks. Very much for making.
I was always a high swinger but last few years switched to flatter swings on both my casts, but yeah higher swings defo suit smaller guys, but there are some bigger guys do well with high swing. Its nice not to hit the deck as you say, and I find I do better distances at the moment with the flatter swing. I remember people always used to say flatter swings suited the bigger guys. I wouldn't say I am one of the big guys but I'm not a small guy either around 6'1 and 16 1/2 stone.
Great casting, love the slow mo. I noticed how because the tip can be kept low you can raise your left leading hand higher. With the high swing, it pulls the tip up so is It acceptable to finish with the left lead hand much lower or am I getting it wrong because this is what happens to me, I cant get a decent left pull with a high swing as the left hand is already too low?
Nice. I have been practising your style of flat arch for weeks now. It's still rubbish. My technic is rubbish, my distance is rubbish. Hahaha. Not giving up though.
@@djrmonix That's something we lack around here, South Africa, Durban South Coast, Amanzimtoti. I've noticed most casters above 6ft apply the pendulum cast easier than us "shorty's". I've resorted to laying my weight on the sand, swinging through 3, 12, 9 o'clock with lighter baits I'm averaging over 150m per cast, putting my bait in the strike zone for an edible. I'd still like to perfect how you cast but probably from a sporting point of view, then I'd need to mag one of my reels. It was such a pity you couldn't make the 2021 World Champs this year, you would have given them reason to dig deeper. Truly Covid-19 sucks. See you next year in the rankings. 👍🎣👍🎣👍🎣🤜🤛

Yes pretty much. Very hard to get a high left hand with high swing. Theres a few who can tho.
Awesome!

Keep at it. Better still go to a casting club day if theres any near you.
