I found this video because I was searching for regular, inexpensive pantry items that can do what Fry Away does...but this is even better. Thanks for making the longer video with proof. 👏🏿
Wow! I wasn’t sure of this when I saw it in a shorter video, but I’m glad to see it actually works!
🥰
Thank you for this video. Just what I was looking for
Ha! Trying this weekend!! I no longer have to feel guilty throwing oil after deep fry
after one use?
He's right, this is the easiest and fastest method and I've tried them all. Couple things to mention... I wouldn't recommend composting the waste/sludge, just toss it in your garbage. Also, your new "cleaned" oil may or may not look cloudy afterwards (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, I don't really know why), but once you let it cool and then reheat it, it will clear again.
I've seen lots of shorts on this and I tried it...didn't work so I came looking for more information and this made a big difference. My oil was fry hot when I added the slurry and it just made a corn starch funnel cake 😂 now I'm gonna try again when my oil cools down some and see if it works
so?
How many times can you do this? After the first time the oil is still dark and dirty
I can't wait to try this hack! 🔥 Speaking of kitchen tips, Honey Lavender Magic is my go-to for minor burns. A handy home remedy that I always keep on hand! 💜
Wow wow and wow…never heard of this…thank you…
Thank you! It’s been around for a long time
Do you let it cool down before straining?
Do you do this with lard?
How much water and cornstarch should I use for a gallon of cooking oil? Should the oil be less than 300°F when treating it with the cornstarch and water mixture?
You’d think that knucklhead would have covered that in this longer version!
@@edzmuda6870can always do it yourself
@@esdott1039 it's 1/4 cup of water and 1 TBSP of cornstarch per 1 cup of oil...... so 4 cups of water and 16 TBSP's of cornstarch to 1 gallon of oil.... knucklehead..... these things are all over the internet if you bother to look instead of trying to insult people.
Can this be done with oil that has been used for frying fish - scallops, shrimp, etc.?
Yes ma’am!
Wil it fry the same even with the water added?
It will because the water gets absorbed by the corn starch.
Tfs I didn't know that amazing!!
This never seems to work for me. I've tried it 2 or 3 times and it cleans the oil somewhat, but I'm always left with lots of smaller particles at the bottom, even if I double the water and corn starch.
Yo grease too cold then
@@arshaun45 Thanks for the tip, how hot should I let the grease get?
@@The-Pizza-Zone I put my grease on medium until I can smell it then slowly pour it in
@@arshaun45 Awesome, I'll definitely try this next time
Does it smell ?
Why not just strain the grease thru a fine strainer
you do not give direction on when or why you need to raise the heat to med nor how do we remove the excess water in the oil, i did this but the starch started sticking to the bottom although was easy to dislodge later but even though it cleaned the oil it was not as brand new, perhaps there is certain amount needs to be used depending on how much oil you working with and the proper steps to take, i then heated my oil to bubble out any water but there is no direction on this
What’s the formula
Amazing
Will the Oil not Splutter when the oil gets heated ?
No. It won’t sputter. You’ll the water and corn starch will combine and will become thick
how many % loss?
similar to decanting?
I’m not certain of the percentage of oil lost. Any oil lost hasn’t been enough for me to notice it or be concerned. Most of what I strain out are the cornstarch/water mixture and whatever bits were collected. I’m using 1/4 cup water and 1 tbs of cornstarch per 1 cup of oil.
Can this be done with beef tallow?
I believe what's happening is that you are also removing the free fatty acids from the oil to the water
Hae where can I get corn starch.
You can purchase it at any grocery store or you can get it on Amazon amzn.to/3qd8NEM
I want to try this on my fried fish and it left some spices . Does this remove the smell too ?
Looks yummy 😋
I wii let u know after I tried
Can I sub cornstarch with flour
No
But it does take alot of the oil and i am fryin chicken chile i dont got no more.... 🤣
I will let your know if that was the same oil😂😂
Oil - 🌻
Transfats formed in it after using 3-4 times - 💀🤡
it can look clear
but TOXIC compounds cant be removed by this process
Don't try.. It didn't work
You have to talk above your unneeded music. The best are done with simple talk.
Just strain
The only way this method works is if you do this after every use of fresh oil only three times maximum I was under the impression that you could clean a gallon of oil with this method 4 tablespoons of starch and one cup of water I was sadly mistaken and wasted my time but I’m not saying that you are lying just saying that this doesn’t work for oil that has been used more than three times
no thanks
Why do you feel the need to play music? It just makes it harder to understand what you are saying. Also, the music is extremely monotonous
All people do is whine. How about “hey thanks for the video” just some constructive criticism here but I had a hard time hearing you with the music.
@@user-vc6mt7hj7sAhhh, a person like you is all i wanted in my life but always got the toxic ones 😂😂
Great video. But you hinted "several times" to used the cooking oil. How many uses before one cannot use the oil as cooking oil?
didn't work for me. this is fake just like the copycats who crave for hits. a big thumbs down.
Just went through all the exact steps …. Don’t waste your time… just wasted 45 minutes of my my … just heat the oil up and put a coffee filter In the screen sieve … much easier …. Way more time ?!? Lmao … it’s already hot !!!
Waste so much time and corn flour .. you must well just change a new batch of oil
It's not amazing
To each their own
@CookWithLeo some people always has something negative to say. This was a dope tip. Thank you Leo!
