  • We are all struggling to exist in this world of social distancing and so this video series is aimed to offer tips for home learning. Designed for families who have individuals with disabilities in their home, each video will some some tips to help us stay connected and engaged during this time.

    This is so helpful Shelley! I how you highlighted "Buy-In" not for manipulation, coercion, or compliance. This support should be in place for the learner to use and hopefully, translate in their everyday context. I appreciate you greatly for your generosity in sharing these tools! You are a godsend!

    I'm enjoying your RUclips videos... thank you so much for creating them! :)
    I want to move away from using the word "compliance"... any ideas how to go about this? Most people use this word and it's what's most widely understood. Any ideas much appreciated. Thank you! :)

    Thanks, Shelly! Love your enthusiasm and relatability. Question: If you've given your student more than ample time for transitioning using the countdown strips (even allowing for extra time if the student is having difficulty), what should you do if the student still refuses to relinquish the preferred activity? I assume that physically removing it (if it's a tangible object activity) is not the ideal option?

    is it better to count down vs up...I count down but i see many educators count up...i count down so students knows there's an end number.....what do you think?
